Our intelligence agencies identified no imminent threat from Iran. There was no sign that the nation was close to developing a nuclear weapon. The White House still has on its website a statement regarding Trump’s 2025 bombing of Iran, carrying the headline: “Iran’s Nuclear Facilities Have Been Obliterated — and Suggestions Otherwise are Fake News.”

The stupid written statement he read pretty much said exactly like this.

[–] diabetic_porcupine@lemmy.world 4 points 2 weeks ago

This is the comment I opened the thread to find

[–] SGGeorwell@lemmy.world 40 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Many of us are old enough to remember when he lied about Covid and a million Americans died when it could have been thousands.

[–] tocopherol@lemmy.dbzer0.com 6 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (1 children)

It would probably be possible to charge Trump with mass murder based on that alone, if laws regarding purposely spreading illness were applied properly to his actions.

[–] phutatorius@lemmy.zip 2 points 2 weeks ago

His defense would be that he's too stupid to do anything on purpose.

[–] hateisreality@lemmy.world 32 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Trump is way too comfortable destroying the USA

[–] johncandy1812@lemmy.ca 8 points 2 weeks ago

People seem comfortable letting him.

[–] Ghostie@lemmy.zip 26 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Trump does not care about a single American life.

[–] SpacetimeMachine@lemmy.world 21 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Well, I think he cares about just 1.

[–] kmartburrito@lemmy.world 5 points 2 weeks ago (4 children)

Oh yeah, you mean his boss's life. Good point!

[–] Formfiller@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago

He doesn’t give a single fuck.

[–] Lucelu2@lemmy.zip 3 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

In fact, while the entire operation was occurring, he was partying, dancing at Mar A Lago at some big fundraiser. Fundraiser for what??? Dude can't be re-elected.... or is our constitution and laws and identity as the US also assault? Will Heggy be turning his guns on us next?

[–] Zephorah@discuss.online 1 points 2 weeks ago

You have described the state of things for us, yes.

[–] UnderpantsWeevil@lemmy.world 21 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (2 children)

Wild to see the bodies stacking up all over Iran, Bahrain, Qatar, UAE, Kuwait, Lebanon, Iraq and Jordan, while the fucking USA Today keeps crying about future potential American dead.

100 girls murdered at an elementary school by US and Israeli munitions and American journalists seem to have straight up not noticed.

[–] beelzebum@lemmy.world 6 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Why would UnderpantsWeevil lie to you?? hmmn

[–] ZombiFrancis@sh.itjust.works 1 points 2 weeks ago

Oh it can all be found if you look for it, no doubt, but CNNworld has the story down with the monkey with the stuffed animal story.

APNews does not appear to feature the story on their main page at all. They're running a Today In History story on Rodney King's beating.

USA Today does have the story on their main page, also fairly low and with the headline: "Who attacked a girls' school in Iran, and will there be accountability?"

But mainly the pundit circles have been ignoring it. But that's what the punditry circuit does. Hyperfixate, ignore anything as needed.

[–] RedFrank24@lemmy.world 19 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

He doesn't seem to have much of a plan. He must be dying very fucking fast or something because it looks like he's just trying to cement a legacy as quickly as possible before he pops his clogs.

The plan appears to be:

  1. Bomb Iran
  2. Kill the Iranian leadership
  3. Wait for new leadership to come along
  4. Bomb them too

Rinse repeat until the country collapses. No attempt at stabilisation, no positioning of the opposition so they can take over, just bomb bomb bomb and we'll think about what to do afterwards when Trump is dead and doesn't have to think about it anymore.

[–] phutatorius@lemmy.zip 9 points 2 weeks ago

The objective is to prevent the pro-democracy protest movement from gaining power, since they won't be loyal stooges to oil companies or subservient to the Israelis. Instead, Netanyahu, Trump and their mob will try to install the son of the old puppet shah. He's popular among Iranian expats in the US, but a lot of those were (or are descended from) former lackeys of the old shah.

The amount of geriatric veterans of Vietnam I've seen hold unwaivering support for this orange asshole the last decade was already baffling enough.

Now he starts Vietnam War x3000000, and these old bastards Ade seal clapping.

Every one of them will tell you Vietnam was a senseless war and waste of human life. Yet they're too fucking arrogant, abusive, narcissistic and demented to see they've become the exact idiot masses that sucked the asshole of those who sent them to Vietnam.

[–] Gates9@sh.itjust.works 5 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

There is also a contingent of Iraq war veterans who have an ax to grind with Iran for having to fight their proxies and others armed by them. Expect to hear from these people in the coming days.

[–] HazardousBanjo@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago (1 children)

"These monsters tried to kill me when I was taking part in an entirely illegal and unjust war in their country that killed over a million of their civilians and gave rise to ISIS!"

[–] Gates9@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 week ago

Pretty much

Definitely, I think about this interview with Dao Strom often, it feels so emblematic of so many things including vets who have utterly lost the plot.

The open corruption and total contempt for the American people by this so called president and his cronies is unreal....

[–] WanderWisley@lemmy.world 10 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

He will happily send everyone in the military off to there deaths and he will still go golf and blame everything on Biden and Hillary.

[–] Lucelu2@lemmy.zip 2 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

he is willing for those lives to be sacrificed.

[–] phutatorius@lemmy.zip 2 points 2 weeks ago

It makes him feel powerful, he loves it.

"I have met some very bad people ... none as bad as Trump," -Epstein

[–] Pirat@lemmy.org 8 points 2 weeks ago

Of course he cares for the suckers and losers.

[–] neidu3@sh.itjust.works 7 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

But his pal Benny swore to fight Iran to the last American breath.

[–] Lucelu2@lemmy.zip 1 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

maybe Benny has some JE footage damning the Orange man.

[–] 100_kg_90_de_belin@feddit.it 1 points 2 weeks ago

I think that footage of Trump doing something 'submissive' or 'emasculating' is the only thing that could end MAGA's unwavering support for him.

Either that or MAGA men would have to endorse getting pegged or asking a Black man to have sex with your wife as you watch from a kennel as what real American men do.

And the latter would have been on very few bingo cards.

[–] Soleos@lemmy.world 7 points 1 week ago

Tomorrow's headline "The Trump administration removes the requirement to report US deaths due to war."

[–] rogsson@piefed.social 7 points 2 weeks ago

“Anyone calling out my blatant lies that even an idiot can see through are all traitors for spreading fake news”

[–] Rise1547@feddit.org 6 points 2 weeks ago (3 children)

Yo Americans, when will you guys do something about the orange man and his cronies? When is it enough?

[–] couldhavebeenyou@lemmy.zip 2 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

Well they actually put him back in power after the last turned out to be too boring

So what does that teach us

[–] Lucelu2@lemmy.zip 2 points 2 weeks ago

Honestly, I am kind of shocked he has not been dragged out of his Florida palace or the WH and strung up by now. Obviously, the normal legal processes of removing someone so inept and dangerous have been neutered. Like.. CIA... Where TF are you? Apparently they are incompetent as well...could not even remove Castro.

[–] FreshParsnip@lemmy.ca 1 points 2 weeks ago

After the next thing, as always

[–] MBech@feddit.dk 6 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

I'm not convinced any national leader, be it monarch, president or whatever, has really given all that much of a fuck about the fallen soldiers at any point in time. If they did, wars wouldn't have been so incredibly common throughout history.

[–] chaogomu@lemmy.world 7 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

I'd wager that Zelenski cares. But he's waging the defense side of the war.

Putin has shown he doesn't give a fuck.

[–] diabetic_porcupine@lemmy.world 4 points 2 weeks ago

So is he not wearing red anymore? Does this mean he’s not a republican but is stating his own party?

[–] Treczoks@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

Well, he has already stated that he sees soldiers who are KIA as losers.

[–] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago

The only way this is news is if you’re a complete idiot.
