An unofficial chapter of the popular Dull Men's Club.

https://dullmensclub.com/

1. Relevant commentary on your own dull life. Posts should be about your own dull, lived experience. This is our most important rule. Direct questions, random thoughts, comment baiting, advice seeking, many uses of "discuss" rarely comply with this rule.

2. Original, Fresh, Meaningful Content.

3. Avoid repetitive topics.

4. This is not a search engine
Use a search engine, a tradesperson, Reddit, friends, a specialist Facebook group, apps, Wikipedia, an AI chat, a reverse image search etc. to answer simple questions or identify objects. Also see rule 1, “comment baiting”.

There are a number of content specific communities with subject matter experts who can help you.

Some other communities to consider before posting:

5. Keep it dull. If it puts us to sleep, it’s on the right track. Examples of likely not dull: jokes, gross stuff (including toes), politics, religion, royalty, illness or injury, killing things for fun, or promotional content. Feel free to post these elsewhere.

6. No hate speech, sexism, or bullying No sexism, hate speech, degrading or excessively foul language, or other harmful language. No othering or dehumanizing of anyone or negativity towards any gender identity.

7. Proofread before posting. Use good grammar and punctuation. Avoid useless phrases. Some examples: - starting a post with "So" - starting a post with pointless phrases, like "I hope this is allowed" or “this is my first post” Only share good quality, cropped images. Do not share screenshots of images; share the original image.

And someone already put a pen in it.

Some people just want to watch the world burn.

You win. That's the dullest thing I saw today. Now print yourself a dull medal (just a plastic disc with inscription) of the dullest pencil holder dull creator.

:)

P.S. It is not as dull as you claim. What is that black ring near the bottom?

[–] don_kiedyck@lemmy.world 6 points 12 hours ago (1 children)

Sweet! I'll do that.

The black ring is just something to make it a little less plain. It's still lame, but it serves the intended purpose. It holds pencils and gave me some practice with Bambu Studio. I'm a total n00b at 3D printing, as if it's not obvious.

It's a nice start. What do you use as a CAD software? As a programmer, I love 3Dscad for it's way of thinking.

I did this with just Bambu Studio, but I’m also just starting to learn FreeCAD.

He does. It's so dull that its dullness is almost overwhelming. It makes me feel numb.

OP, do you publish your models somewhere?

[–] don_kiedyck@lemmy.world 2 points 8 hours ago

No. I’m still trying to figure out what I’m doing. This was only the second thing I’ve modeled. I made an even more boring toothbrush holder.

dont wana nag but that job could have been done by a cup that dosent end up as microplastics eventually

What kind of printer(s) do you have?

I use a Bambu Lab A1 and A1 Mini myself.

[–] don_kiedyck@lemmy.world 2 points 12 hours ago

Bambu Lab P1S. I got the one with AMS, which is nice.
