The building appears to be among many devastated in Trump’s ‘major combat operations’ as long expected attacks arrive

Iran’s parents had just dropped their children off for class on Saturday morning when they found themselves racing back to school gates, as bombs began to fall across the country in a joint US-Israel attack.

At one elementary school, according to Iran’s state-controlled media, they arrived to find devastation. At least 80 children had been killed in the strike on Shajareh Tayyebeh girls’ school in Minab, southern Iran, the IRNA news agency reported, with dozens more unaccounted for.

In one video circulating on social media, purportedly showing the immediate aftermath of the strike, smoke rises from the burnt-out walls, and debris lies spread across the road. Hundreds of onlookers gathered at the site, some in obvious distress. Screams can be heard in the background. The report of the bombing, its death toll and the video’s source could not immediately be independently verified by the Guardian. Persian factchecking service Factnameh was able to cross-reference the video with other photographs of the school site, and concluded that the video was authentic. Reuters said it had also verified the footage as being from the school.

Israelis and americans expanding and practicing their genocide tactics to see what they can get away with. I dont understand how murdering junior school girls is a legitimate target. Unfortunately western governments are all supporting this despite is blatant illegality. I am ashamed of my government for coming out in support of this. Anthony Albanese is Prime Minister of Australia. Shame on you.

Americans are so used to school killings that they don't blink an eye at this.

[–] Arancello@aussie.zone 4 points 1 hour ago (2 children)

How can you live with such a callous disregard for childs lives? What has become of your country?

[–] Mulligrubs@lemmy.world 2 points 43 minutes ago* (last edited 43 minutes ago) (1 children)

I wonder how you will feel after you realize you and your allies have been a big part of the American empire, too?

See history of the US dollar and international trade.

Your country likely contributes a significant amount to the US economy, and we go to war together, too.

how do you live with that?

[–] Arancello@aussie.zone 3 points 41 minutes ago (1 children)

Ok, so in essence you are saying the person who sold shoes to a murderer is equally guilty of the crime committed?

[–] Mulligrubs@lemmy.world 2 points 31 minutes ago* (last edited 30 minutes ago)

No, I'm in essence saying that the person who murders with the murderer is equally guilty of murder.

You should look up who arms Australia, by the way. Can you guess who?

The pronoun 'you' doesn't mean you specifically; how can you tell it wasn't about 'you' specifically?

Because they didn't change the subject to you specifically, of course. The 'you' is a pronoun replacing "The United States Military", "USAF" "US and Israeli combined forces", etc.; the subject is who the 'you' is referring to, not actually you the person.

The pronoun is used in English to avoid having to specifically refer to the subject by name over and over.

Now, go forth, and SIN NO MORE

Western NATO aligned countries are just puppet states in the American Empire

[–] Klox@lemmy.world 147 points 9 hours ago (4 children)

God fucking damnit, so fucking frustrating. Another 30+ years of "terrorists" because people will avenge war crimes committed by the US. This is maddening.

[–] SaharaMaleikuhm@feddit.org 8 points 1 hour ago

And terrorist attacks on Americans ensures more supposed "strong man" presidents. It's all part of the plan.

[–] scvarii@lemmy.today 8 points 3 hours ago

Yes, this is exactly what I was thinking. All suicide bombers need to do is say "this was for those schoolgirls" and it's kind of hard to disagree with them.

The problem is that the people committing these atrocities face no legal justice, so it's up to vigilantes to do it instead.

[–] bearboiblake@pawb.social 7 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

Another 30+ years of “terrorists”

I don't think that the US imperial regime is going to last that long

[–] Kacarott@aussie.zone 3 points 1 hour ago

Should we be so lucky

Another 30+ years of “terrorists”

We were never going to hear the end of "Muslim Terrorist" rhetoric, because it was instrumental in justifying our dominion over the region.

There isn't going to be another 9/11. We're well past the point of needing a causa belli for this kind of war. It'll just be ICE goons murdering parents in front of crying children and CNN talking heads explaining how we're safer because of it.

[–] HugeNerd@lemmy.ca 2 points 1 hour ago

causa belli

It's "casus" belli

[–] Darkassassin07@lemmy.ca 1 points 3 hours ago

Another 30+ years of “terrorists”

America claims its attacks are to stop 'terrorists', but it's exactly those actions that are creating 'terrorists'. And they're fully justified in becoming 'terrorists' imo.

If I lived in Iran, I'd certainly want revenge for this.

(here I'm using the word terrorist to mean 'enemy of America~s administration~', as that's what America has turned that word into)

Prior to this attack, as well as the bunker busters dropped last year: I do not believe Iran is/was creating nuclear weapons.

Since these two attacks however, I believe they'd be justified in seeking such weapons simply because America has proven over and over that no nation is safe without them.

In short; I don't think they are/were, but I do think they should be in response. As much as I don't like nuclear proliferation, I'm much much more against deliberately killing innocents, particularly children.

Perhaps I'd have a different opinion if America/Israel struck military targets; but they didn't. They struck homes, schools, and other civilians.

America is truly a Terrorist State, if not just a lap dog of Israel's genocidal regime.

Fucker is either murdering kids or raping them.

[–] meco03211@lemmy.world 45 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

Little of column A. Little of column B.

[–] frongt@lemmy.zip 25 points 8 hours ago

Allegedly sometimes both at the same time.

Someone on Reddit wrote they are hoping for a stroke, 223 upvotes.

I added "I am team blood clot." and got a 3 day ban, lol.

I tried fully switching to Lemmy, but the content was lacking. Sure, you got communities for everything, but they are pretty much dead.

For example on r/Nvidia I immediately see news about new driver updates and the changelogs. On Lemmy it's dead.

Similar to other subreddits, be it for certain games or other topics :-/

[–] Linktank@lemmy.today 24 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

Be the change you want to see.

[–] Eyekaytee@aussie.zone 6 points 6 hours ago (6 children)

i mean i am the change i want to see, make hundreds of posts, lemmy is still dead and i need reddit for content?

Pretty sure targeting children's schools breaches the Geneva Convention rules of war. Although Israel will say they're a cover for a military base

What's that thing when people are killed for no real strategic purpose? 🤔

[–] scvarii@lemmy.today 1 points 3 hours ago

You might be thinking of collective punishment.

[–] kmartburrito@lemmy.world 28 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

It's either collateral damage or murder. Sadly I'm going with murder

[–] givesomefucks@lemmy.world 20 points 9 hours ago* (last edited 9 hours ago) (1 children)

There is a strategic purpose...

They don't want peace, even if that's because they won.

They want a constant war as an excuse for why they can be the only ones in power.

Killing a bunch of kids, makes sure the other side won't surrender. Even if the government does, you can claim all the people who want to kill your for killing kids are terrorists, and that they didn't surrender.

Which makes it even worse.

Americans and Israelis when these particular roosters will inevitably come home to roost: "why do they hate us?".

[–] EndlessNightmare@reddthat.com 2 points 4 hours ago

The "rooster" for Israel is climate change

This will definitely keep America safe and absolutely not produce any radicalized terrorists.

[–] rafoix@lemmy.zip 33 points 9 hours ago

The radicalized terrorists bombed a school full of children.
