Welcome to the News community!

Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

forced a woman to give him oral sex when she was in her early teens

Talk about failure as a journalist. I just can’t with these assholes. They’re almost as guilty as Trump in that their word choice helps every last one of those bastards get away with it.

If the GIRL was a TEEN, then she was a CHILD, not a woman. I don’t care about the potential for alternative interpretations here. The frame placed on the situation is done with one word: woman. Not teen. Not child. Not kid. Not girl. “Woman”. Which creates a sideways shift in perception.

I am so sick of this shit.

Raped a teenager. That's what he did. He raped a teenage girl .

He raped a 13 year old girl. There. I said what should be in the headlines.

“Underage woman” is a phrase used by pedophile supporters.

Again, this isn't a failure, the media is working exactly as intended. They aren't on our side, they're on the side of the ruling class. The ruling class bought and own the media. They aren't going to use the media to criticize themselves.

If we want to see justice, we need to make it. We need to take action. The rules of the system protect the ruling class. We need to break the rules and break the system itself.

She was a woman by the time she was able to report it, but it's very poorly worded.

Certin News people faced justice when the Nazis fell, a lot of people forget that it wasnt just the soldier of the regime that were tried and persecuted. Tho this person likely isn't the subject, her editer def might get looked over

There's a distinct difference between how some of these terms are used depending on context. There is biological status and then there is legal status.

So be careful where & when you take issue.

Here, legal terms are appropriate due to the subject matter, and you should definitely suggest to the authors that they adjust the terms used accordingly.

Just complaing to the ether may be cathartic, but inaction is also complicit.

However teen is a teen regardless of context, as it's a designation of age group, not a legal or biological classification. So it's up to the reader to determine relevance of the teens age beyond that.

Even in paper days journalism deliberately packed their first and second sentences of an article with the most punchy and relevant details because they knew, with every additional sentence, readers were lost.

The line is buried. And could be stated more succinctly with “13 year old girl”, punching in the relevant details.

Instead, extra words are added. It’s deliberate. And it’s journalism’s job not to do this because a large slice of readers will hit only the key words and move on.

Trigger warning for her testimonial.

She also disappeared without a trace after Trump became president.

Feds knew. America knew.

This is America.

And the darkest part is the sex trafficking and rape most likely is just the tip of how evil they are. They don't just want to own sex slaves, they want, or even more likely have the upper hand in owning humanity.

i wonder when they get bored of raping kids and start having hungergame style fucked up shit or something even more horrifying. Who knows if they already do in secret.

[–] Maeve@kbin.earth 2 points 2 weeks ago

We've been in hunger games since founding. They're now moving up through the homeless middle class.

Again, early teens is not a woman, that's grade school or beginning of high school:

TNR reporter Edith Olmsted wrote that “A 21-page slideshow buried in the massive trove of Epstein-related documents included allegations that sometime between 1983 and 1985, Trump forced a woman to give him oral sex when she was in her early teens,” Olmsted wrote. “When the woman bit down on Trump’s exposed penis, he allegedly punched her in the head and kicked her out. That same woman told the DOJ that Epstein had introduced her to Trump in 1984.”

When you say "sex with a minor" what you really mean is "raped a child" right?

Right?

Nothing is going to come of this. He's invincible because we've allowed it.

For real. We never stood a chance against him and el on musk manipulating the ever loving fuck out of the media and the election.

[–] null@lemmy.org 11 points 2 weeks ago (3 children)

He's invincible because 1/3rd of the US population looked away while another 1/3rd put him into power.

[–] ericatty@infosec.pub 11 points 2 weeks ago

And the other 1/3 were accused of being hyperbolic and/or hysterical.

He's a frail old man. One solid shove in the right direction would be all it takes.

Have they identified the 14-yr old down syndrome girl whom jeffry and Leon Black impregnated and killed her baby? Or was she one of the victims who vanished with Epestien's 400 galons of acid and remains thrown in the ocean?
