You know what they say, don’t put all your eggs in one basket.
I've got all my nuts in one sack though.
Fix it with stitches!
Oh so that's what happened. Damn, It was one of the servers with ZERO political brainrot to go & just unwind.
As for the admin issues, I saw some interesting points raised in the comments, wondering if Piefed will learn from it ?
See? Centralization is a bad idea.
It's a Valentine's day tragedy.
As an instance admin myself, I'm so confused... If you went through the effort of setting up an instance, the effort of transferring all the access and stuff to someone else would be nothing. Just seems super weird to disappear without a trace and without handing it over to someone else.
the lemmy nsfw admin had previously asked if anyone was willing to take ownership of the instance because it was too much mental overhead to moderate a space that could sometimes get dicey and be legally liable for what was hosted on the server. there were no takers. the fact that this admin has been silent leads me to believe that this was not an active choice and instead something away from the keyboard led to this, be that legal, personal, or mental concerns that took priority over something they already felt no one would take on based on previously asking
See @ada@lemmy.blahaj.zone's better explanation of the situation here: https://piefed.blahaj.zone/comment/3354654
I could just imagine someone's wife finding out:
"Are you telling me that all this time, you've been running a porn site on the Internet? And you don't even make money at it?"
That would be my last day as mod.
seems like this is what happened to Lemmy. ee too, nobody would take over some of the instance administrations.
They had two admins, only the first of which had the keys to the castle.
Rub one out for our homie.
Without porn, is a platform really a platform?
they still have reddit, where people peddle thier OF profiles are part of thier businesses all the time, by using hordes of bots.
a significant number of us are permanently banned from reddit for whatever reason
They defend it now, one piece sub had a of girl post a cosplay, mod removed it because she had of links in profile, top post was them hating on the mod saying shes just an innocent fan who happens to have an of business lmao, I got the same hate getting a girls post removed on raves and she had posts asking about were to buy fetanyl before she started posting of posts to support her addiction. They come in acting innocent, but they've turned themselves into a business, so even when they aren't actively advertising they are advertising, since they are walking advertisements for their of business and think like that when approaching things.
That was my 1st account... Not signed for porn, but I switched to lemmy in the first big migratory wave, and no other instance replied to my registration request. I even donated. Since then I have registered to many lemmy, but only this (reddthat.com) survived 😭
What??? In the Valentines day? I fucking liked Lemmy nsfw
I'm sorry everyone. It was me. I recently found out about lemmynsfw and may have overloaded the server.
Oh, with that instance federated browsing lemmy felt like good old times browsing reddit before they banned porn from /all.
This is really a sad thing.
