May we ask some of what you were banned for? Just voting or comments? I always drop accounts after a 2nd violation so I don't get permabanned but want to quit completely as their violations are usually not against the rules, and often I think for other reasons, dishonest.

That’s probably some Secret Service thing, because the threat of poisoning is actually real. In America, the Secret Service goes to great lengths to vet potential restaurant stops wherever the POTUS/VP is going to be. But they don’t exactly have jurisdiction to do that when they’re in another country.
Notably, Trump’s love of fast food has made the Secret Service’s job extremely frustrating… He apparently has a tendency to just spontaneously demand a drive-thru stop, giving the Secret Service no time to actually run security checks on the staff ahead of time.
I doubt he eats that much of the fast food himself, and that it's more of a public image thing, he wants to look like he's eating it.
I wonder how much piss, shit, and semen Trump eats on a regular basis from these spontaneous McDonald's stops. 🤔

Neo has a really good video on the presidential motorcade and how it works. It is completely absurd in a place like Milan, certainly, but every part of it is there for a reason.

Moreover, the president is getting the treatment of a king. They are ostensibly fungible assets. There’s a succession plan. The more they’re protected, the more they’re a target (and invading foreign countries doesn’t help).

and looking at their license plates, around half of them have US ones, which means those cars were probably flown in. or do they have a standing motorcade for Europe? I saw one car had german plates…

I had the same impulse when seeing that convoy. I think there should be enough stuff from the war in ex-yugoslavia floating around, and with the current political climate there shouldn't be an issue finding 50-100 people to place on rooftops.

I guess from a security perspective it also helps to obfuscate Vance’s whereabouts. It’s difficult to know which one of the 40 vehicles he’s actually in.
Obfuscation is part of the motorcade, but not to the extent you would think. The motorcade has two presidential limos, and the POTUS is typically put in one while the VP is put in the other. Or in this case, the second limo would simply be empty. The order of the limos is random. The idea being that if you manage to bomb one limo, you’d only get either the VP or POTUS, and you’d have no way of knowing which one you got until after the fact. And that’s assuming the bomb is even effective, because the presidential limos have RPG-proof windows and heavy armored plating underneath the body panels.
Most of the motorcade is focused on things like landmine detection, biological weapon detection, chemical weapon detection, standby security forces in case they need to fan out/circle the wagons and create a secure perimeter, on-site medical staff, monitoring local radio chatter, jamming equipment to activate in case of an attack, etc…
