This man is a boil on the ass of society.

[–] timeghost@lemmy.world 1 points 3 hours ago

These type of belief systems have a much quicker loophole: Get a buddy to threaten your life if you don't renounce your faith, refuse, he kills you, bam, instant martyr, off you go to heaven.

[–] RizzRustbolt@lemmy.world 2 points 4 hours ago

Lets go Crusade XVII!

[–] phutatorius@lemmy.zip 15 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

Go ahead, DrunkPig, promise them 54 virgins while you're at it.

[–] Bullerfar@lemmy.world 5 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

What about 78? Don't go cheap on me brother

[–] ArmchairAce1944@discuss.online 2 points 6 hours ago

And the reason why they're virgins is because they're all 8 to 16 years old. Also not just 78 female virgins, but an additional 55 virgin boys, because you know how they're like!

[–] phutatorius@lemmy.zip 10 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

So I wonder what war Hegseth and his puppeteers are planning.

Ice is a terrorist organization. ICE is.

You first jackass.

[–] captainlezbian@lemmy.world 23 points 21 hours ago (6 children)

Didn't these people condemn Islam for that 20 years ago.

Also I thought protestants thought salvation was free

[–] RizzRustbolt@lemmy.world 1 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

Baptists are Catholics with all of the creative finery stripped away.

[–] captainlezbian@lemmy.world 1 points 1 hour ago

Hey, Catholics have a lot wrong, but they're wildly different from Baptists, especially when it comes to theological rigor.

Evangelicals as a whole are a demonstration of what a religion looks like when it has none of the things that encourage resisting demogaugery

[–] phutatorius@lemmy.zip 4 points 9 hours ago

And I thought Protestants didn't approve of pedophilia either.

[–] Doorbook@lemmy.world 2 points 13 hours ago

When they start working with Al-Qaeda's and ISIS closely, they realize that it is easier to brainwash the soldiers to die for their religion. It is very clear people don't have attachments to their own country because they are struggling, replace that with religion and they will blow themselves up.

I assume based on the research the CIA and their experience, they are trying to do that within the US.

[–] SkaveRat@discuss.tchncs.de 5 points 18 hours ago

You'll go to premium heaven. Or Heaven+, how it's now rebranded

[–] Azal@pawb.social 4 points 21 hours ago

Of course they condemned Islam for that. It's Islam.

For Christianity, it's different for the evangelicals.

[–] ChaoticEntropy@feddit.uk 2 points 20 hours ago

“Talibangelicals” and “Y’all Qaeda” has never been more appropriate.

[–] damnedfurry@lemmy.world -2 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

Asinine 'doodyhead'-tier 'nicknames' for people you don't like are never appropriate, once you've reached a double-digit age. Grow up.

[–] RememberTheApollo_@lemmy.world 2 points 5 hours ago* (last edited 2 hours ago) (1 children)

In case you hadn’t noticed, the mocking terms I used are directly and deliberately satirical of their hyper-controlling, abusive, violent theocratic desires.

If I wanted to call them buttheads, I would have.

No gold star for you trying to defend them.

[–] damnedfurry@lemmy.world -1 points 5 hours ago (1 children)
  1. The fact that "mocking terms" is even in your 'playbook' to begin with, speaks volumes about you.
  2. Acting like "y'all" is a component of some high-minded satire is genuinely hilarious. Who do you think you're kidding?
[–] RememberTheApollo_@lemmy.world 1 points 2 hours ago

Lick that boot.

[–] FalschgeldFurkan@lemmy.world 5 points 1 day ago (2 children)

“Y’all Qaeda”

That's gold 😂

That one scene from Kingdom of Heaven where a random kid is announcing "To kill an infidel, the pope has said is not murder, it is the path to heaven!"

[–] Mulligrubs@lemmy.world 8 points 22 hours ago

Like I have always said, they WILL kill you, and feel righteous while doing so. That's why religions have been so successful over the centuries. They will die and think that's going to be a reward...

And we have graciously allowed them to not pay taxes, and support these "faiths". Obscene

[–] Archangel1313@lemmy.ca 12 points 1 day ago (3 children)

Except that Christian martyrs get 73 virgins. Haha...beat that, Muslims!!

[–] Professorozone@lemmy.world 5 points 17 hours ago

And they will be underage for Republican salvation.

[–] stringere@sh.itjust.works 4 points 23 hours ago* (last edited 23 hours ago)

Christian martyrs for the great Christian nation of the USA get 1776 virgins.

[–] UnderpantsWeevil@lemmy.world 3 points 23 hours ago

Conservatives spent the last quarter century screaming "Muslims are the worst, they're going to kill us all!"

Liberals smugly retorted "Actually you Christians are slightly worse", and then proceeded to shit the bed in the next 9 of 12 elections.

The moral they took away from this story is that a woman should never run for president.

[–] Lushed_Lungfish@lemmy.ca 4 points 20 hours ago

Lead the way then.

[–] Gammelfisch@lemmy.world 7 points 23 hours ago

Croaking for a Christian Nation? Here's a single finger salute. Let me guess, the casket will be draped with a fucking MAGA flag.

[–] Zink@programming.dev 16 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Oh good. I would hate to make it all the way to lunch time without being reminded that this country is run by mid popcorn movie villains.

This is not a complaint about the OP. This is a complaint about stupid evil people in positions of power, and their enablers.

[–] CombatWombatEsq@lemmy.world 10 points 1 day ago

I hate posting a litany of the horrors as much as you hate seeing it, I assure you.

[–] Sunflier@lemmy.world 20 points 1 day ago (1 children)

They told this to the Crusaders too.

Hegseth said:

“[Christ’s] mission was to divide truth from lies, the things of the world from the things of God, light from darkness, good from evil."

That tells me that either he hasn't actually read the Bible or he needs to work on his reading comprehension.

Jesus described his mission in this way:

"For the Son of man also came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” (Mark 10:45)

...he said to them, "I must preach the good news of the kingdom of God to the other cities also; for I was sent for this purpose." (Luke 4:43)

"I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance." (Luke 5:32)

"For the Son of man came to seek and to save the lost." (Luke 19:10)

"All that the Father gives me will come to me; and him who comes to me I will not cast out. For I have come down from heaven, not to do my own will, but the will of him who sent me; and this is the will of him who sent me, that I should lose nothing of all that he has given me, but raise it up at the last day. For this is the will of my Father, that every one who sees the Son and believes in him should have eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day.” (John 6:37-40)

I'm an atheist, but I was raised by evangelicals who emphasized following Christ's example as portrayed in the Gospels. I can't believe that the rabbi who commanded his followers to "turn the other cheek" and "bless those who curse you" could inspire the nationalist bullshit that is quoted from Hegseth in this article.

I'm concerned for the future of Christianity in a country that believes Hegseth and other Republican figureheads instead of their own Bible. And I'm worried about what that will mean for non-Christians in the American military and, eventually, in the rest of the country.

Remember that one time before you were born... Yeah

[–] FalschgeldFurkan@lemmy.world 5 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Imagine their surprise when they end up in hell, lmao

[–] cheesybuddha@lemmy.world 5 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I think it's more likely that they realize that Christianity is complete nonsense, but so many Americans believe it that they use it to control the masses.

[–] III@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago

Religion is the old school use of fear to manipulate people.

[–] RaskolnikovsAxe@lemmy.ca 13 points 1 day ago

Yes, Christian nationalists, the next world is paradise and this world is a crime-ridden hellhole. Please expedite your passage.
