119th CONGRESS 2d Session H. R. 7012 To authorize the annexation and subsequent admission to statehood of Greenland, and for other purposes. IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES January 12, 2026 Mr. Fine (for himself and Mr. Rulli) introduced the following bill; which was referred to the Committee on Foreign Affairs A BILL To authorize the annexation and subsequent admission to statehood of Greenland, and for other purposes. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, SECTION 1. Short title. This Act may be cited as the “Greenland Annexation and Statehood Act”. SEC. 2. Authorization for the annexation of Greenland. The President is authorized to take such steps as may be necessary, including by seeking to enter into negotiations with the Kingdom of Denmark, to annex or otherwise acquire Greenland as a territory of the United States. Upon completion of such annexation or acquisition, the President shall submit to Congress a report consisting of such changes to Federal law as the President may determine necessary to admit the newly acquired territory as a State, in order to expedite congressional approval of such statehood for Greenland after the adoption of a constitution that Congress determines to be republican in form and in conformity with the Constitution of the United States.

Vile pieces of shit. A pointless bill at this point after DT backed down at Davos. With threats of invasion off the table, there is no way for them to acquire Greenland. And if they want to renegotiate the 1951 treatise, they’re gonna have to acknowledge the sovereignty of Denmark and Greenland. I expect they will be a bit quiet on the issue for a while, leaving their followers with the lie they spread on social media about getting all they wanted without having to pay anything.

America used to be highly regarded in Denmark and Europe more generally. Now the majority don’t trust them and actively see them as hostile to Europe. Denmark has officially listed them as a potential enemy. All this within a year. Even if they locked outta Republicans at all levels tomorrow, the damage in many cases is permanent.

this is so stupid. residents of a place have to petition to be one and then later formally vote to become one after drafting a constitution around it and such. It does not start with congress.

They can't publish the bill text in a timely manner. I'm not sure what that's about.
