To me it looks like they're trying to make Alberta Canada's Crimea.

Carney said he expected the United States to always "respect Canadian sovereignty."
He's expecting the cheeto to "respect" anything at all? Bold move, I wonder if it'll pay off
I know this is just a message with "fuck off" undertones, but I might have used slightly stronger wording
Or better yet
I'd start cosying up to California.
As a US citizen I also expect the US to respect Canadian sovereignty.. also Greenland, Palestine, Venezuela, Ukraine, etc
As a Native American I have no faith in the US Government’s ability to respect sovereignty.
Respecting Canadian sovereignty begins with respecting Canada which he doesn't.
Which you can apply to Trumps entire worldview. He doesn't respect anything so he doesn't respect the sovereignty of anything. He raped children and abducted a head of state, kills Americans, ignored the entire notion of law or rights and is actively trying to remove democracy as the means by which authority is granted. He respects nothing but his own desires, which he is a slave to.
Really making it obvious that they're copying the Putin playbook...
This is exactly how Putin started his invasion of Ukraine. Fund some extremist groups, they start protesting for no reason, then the weapons come.
Putin's traitors shot doen a ln international civil passenger airplane using Russian missiles and still nothing happened to stop it
Then the "training exercises" start next to the border, then the invasion starts.
I think he probably believes this too, but even if he didn't, he wouldn't say otherwise as that would cause a huge panic.
A headline that reads to the effect of "Mark Carney believes that Canadian sovereignty is at risk from the US" would cause nothing but problems for us.
The fact that he is saying this means that he already believes that. There'd be no need to say it otherwise. He's just being a proper diplomat by saying it diplomatically.
I would find it validating and encouraging since that's what I already believe.
Well, then. I guess Carney really is an idiot, then?
Hey Carney! We'll trade you the NFC North for Alberta! (Totally not self-serving because I live in one of those states...)
Alberta is Canadian. We're staying here.
If you wish to join Canada, there's an immigration process.
I expect that they won't, given that they aren't. You need to ensure we do not need their respect to ensure our sovereignty. Nuclear weapons now.
Carney said he expected the United States to always "respect Canadian sovereignty."
Naive or just wishful thinking.
Politics and messaging. He's isn't an idiot he's not going to express his counter moves publicly.
