A while back, someone somewhere posted asking about how we could communicate over long distances without modern devices and messaging services (or something similar). I wish I could remember who, so they could be tagged for this post.

I got the feeling they meant meta, reddit, messaging apps, but internet was still operable, which led me to think of BBS, gopher, irc, ftp. This is why I thought of it itt.
