Trump Always Chickens Out.
On the one hand it's Mexican cuisine slander even associating with him, but on the other hand I love the idea of having tacos as often as he chickens out.
Would be great if Casa Bonita had free tacos every time Donald did the obvious.

I feel like that makes slightly too much sense to be something trump would propose. At the very least, he'd have to be aware of them not being the same place, which is already giving him too much credit.

I meant tariffs are happening in two weeks.
I'm expecting Trump to loudly announce that he negotiated so hard, and really got Greenland/Denmark to bow to his mighty nogotiating talents, only to then reveal that what he negotiated is that the US is allowed to build several military bases (which they already could), and that they have gotten rights to extract a chunk of minerals (which they already could).
Then the whole MAGA base will be thrilled with how big and strong their dear leader is...
As this point everything is exactly as it were before he started threatening Greenland and Denmark, except for having lost a large chunk of trust around the world, and MAGA feeling emboldened.
Then a few weeks/months down the line Trump will start threatening with an invasion again...
So are he and cronies selling off before this craziness, then buying after the hit?

It really looks like what he was doing and Europe signalling that they are willing to go to war with the US over the integrity of their territory was scaring his billionaire supporters. His own party would have turned against him. He must have realized that.

This was my theory—in fact yesterday I told my wife I’d bet her $50 he walks back the tariffs so his family can cash out when stocks go back up.
I hope that it has scared them enough to lose trust in him in the long run

tbf caligula most likely did that as a putative thing - he wanted to shame the army for some failure they blamed on the sea or similar. Trump lacks the wit to think of something like that - I don't think you can tariff an army, and that's basically the one hammer in his entire toolchest.
