Welcome to the discussion of US Politics!

Rules:

  1. Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.

Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
  3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

Why should he remember the name of a nobody who doesn't even have a Nobel Peace Prize?

[–] MehBlah@lemmy.world 50 points 16 hours ago

He got what he wanted. Why bother to remember who gave it to him? Its amazing how so few people understand what a narcissist truly is.

I am once again begging people not to post a headline that starts with “Trump, 79,” that doesn’t end with. Well. You know

[–] Zorsith@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 points 7 hours ago* (last edited 7 hours ago)

Fake obituary titles are such bullshit... it either gets peoples hopes up for nothing, or makes people sad for no good reason. Its one of the worse forms of clickbait.

[–] Blackfeathr@lemmy.world 18 points 16 hours ago

It's the Daily Beast. They think it's cute for some reason, but it's just a hopium rag at this point.

[–] Railcar8095@lemmy.world 12 points 15 hours ago

"79 rape charges" was what my brain autofilled

[–] kbobabob@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 15 hours ago

Write to the daily beast then. The headline should match the linked article IMO.

[–] BleatingZombie@lemmy.world 4 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

His brutal and violent death?

[–] becausechemistry@piefed.social 2 points 13 hours ago

I would prefer he dies surrounded by the people he loves doing the thing he loves to do the most.

(Nobody; eating fast food)

TRUMP, 79, HAS BEEN PRONOUNCED ~alive and well~

[–] fletcher_bosom@lemmy.world 87 points 18 hours ago (3 children)

No worries Don, it's engraved on the edge of the medal for you to remember forver that it's not yours.

[–] fizzle@quokk.au 26 points 16 hours ago (2 children)

It's just unfathomable to me that she thought it was a good idea to give it to him.

She won it for her work in promoting democracy, then she uses it to bribe someone to help her subvert democracy.

I cant help but feel like the Nobel committee really chose the wrong person.

[–] Serinus@lemmy.world 9 points 14 hours ago (1 children)

She's trying to buy her country back with a hunk of metal. It's understandable.

[–] fizzle@quokk.au 8 points 12 hours ago* (last edited 12 hours ago)

No she's trying to secure support for her candidacy.

[–] Lileath@lemmy.blahaj.zone 3 points 13 hours ago

She won it by grifting. Just because someone is against an oppressive regime doesnt make them good nor democratic. The same with Navalny or for a less recent example Stauffenberg.

[–] farboo99@lemmy.world 40 points 18 hours ago

nah he immediately covered her name with his fav sharpie.

[–] someguy3@lemmy.world 2 points 17 hours ago

Nothing a little filler can't solve.

[–] Doomsider@lemmy.world 5 points 12 hours ago

Can't remember the last person who he met with that gave him something he has always wanted but he can be trusted to make important trade and defensive judgements.

This would be bizarrely funny if so many people's lives weren't on the line.

[–] ThePowerOfGeek@lemmy.world 28 points 17 hours ago (1 children)

Is it dementia? It's is it that she's no longer of any importance to him? Probably both.

[–] victorz@lemmy.world 10 points 17 hours ago (1 children)

There are several knowledgeable people who are quite convinced that he is in the late stages of dementia, some saying he has months left to live.

So that's a glimmer of hope.

[–] Lucky_777@lemmy.world 16 points 17 hours ago (2 children)

Would love a source on this. I need a good Saturday morning read

[–] PattyMcB@lemmy.world 5 points 15 hours ago

Oh, please let it be over soon

[–] phoenixz@lemmy.ca 1 points 15 hours ago

Good to source these claims but don't use futurism.com as a source as it's full of made up shit articles

[–] victorz@lemmy.world 1 points 13 hours ago

I've seen it in multiple articles which I haven't saved unfortunately, but this is my main source which I keep coming back to for the lulz.

To be fair, she is brown and a woman

[–] mrdown@lemmy.world 4 points 16 hours ago

And an american puppet. Nobody respect traitors like her

[–] jdr8@lemmy.world 25 points 18 hours ago

“Sir, what about Greenland?”

“Who?!”

[–] MOARbid1@piefed.social 23 points 18 hours ago

Now we just need him to forget to breathe, and we’ll be good.

[–] PodPerson@lemmy.zip 6 points 16 hours ago

Clearly her name is Maria Southamerica. While she was in the US, after gifting Donnie his special award that he earned, she flew to California to meet with Tim Apple.

[–] Widdershins@lemmy.world 9 points 18 hours ago

He's probably faking it because he's mad the chocolate coin she gave him chipped his veneers.
