Comic Strips is a community for those who love comic stories.

Rules
  1. πŸ˜‡ Be Nice!

    • Treat others with respect and dignity. Friendly banter is okay, as long as it is mutual; keyword: friendly.
  2. 🏘️ Community Standards

    • Comics should be a full story, from start to finish, in one post.
    • Posts should be safe and enjoyable by the majority of community members, both here on lemmy.world and other instances.
    • Any comic that would qualify as raunchy, lewd, or otherwise draw unwanted attention by nosy coworkers, spouses, or family members should be tagged as NSFW.
    • Moderators have final say on what and what does not qualify as appropriate. Use common sense, and if need be, err on the side of caution.
  3. 🧬 Keep it Real

    • Comics should be made and posted by real human beans, not by automated means like bots or AI. This is not the community for that sort of thing.
  4. πŸ“½οΈ Credit Where Credit is Due

    • Comics should include the original attribution to the artist(s) involved, and be unmodified. Bonus points if you include a link back to their website. When in doubt, use a reverse image search to try to find the original version. Repeat offenders will have their posts removed, be temporarily banned from posting, or if all else fails, be permanently banned from posting.
    • Attributions include, but are not limited to, watermarks, links, or other text or imagery that artists add to their comics to use for identification purposes. If you find a comic without any such markings, it would be a good idea to see if you can find an original version. If one cannot be found, say so and ask the community for help!
  5. πŸ“‹ Post Formatting

    • Post an image, gallery, or link to a specific comic hosted on another site; e.g., the author's website.
    • Meta posts about the community should be tagged with [Meta] either at the beginning or the end of the post title.
    • When linking to a comic hosted on another site, ensure the link is to the comic itself and not just to the website; e.g.,
      βœ… Correct: https://xkcd.com/386/
      ❌ Incorrect: https://xkcd.com/
  6. πŸ“¬ Post Frequency/SPAM

    • Each user (regardless of instance) may post up to five (5 πŸ–) comics a day. This can be any combination of personal comics you have written yourself, or other author's comics. Any comics exceeding five (5 πŸ–) will be removed.
  7. πŸ΄β€β˜ οΈ Internationalization (i18n)

    • Non-English posts are welcome. Please tag the post title with the original language, and include an English translation in the body of the post; e.g.,
      SΓ, por favor [Spanish/EspaΓ±ol]
  8. 🍿 Moderation

    • We are human, just like most everybody else on Lemmy. If you feel a moderation decision was made in error, you are welcome to reach out to anybody on the moderation team for clarification. Keep in mind that moderation decisions may be final.
    • When reporting posts and/or comments, quote which rule is being broken, and why you feel it broke the rules.
Web Accessibility

Note: This is not a rule, but a helpful suggestion.

When posting images, you should strive to add alt-text for screen readers to use to describe the image you're posting:

Another helpful thing to do is to provide a transcription of the text in your images, as well as brief descriptions of what's going on. (example)

If girls are overrated, I only see one solution

A brilliant observation, I see 2 solutions. The one I had in mind was to be gay

Then you'd be back to having to date an icky girl, you fool!

[–] Lost_My_Mind@lemmy.world 2 points 3 months ago

I thought you were suggesting either murder, or suicide. I couldn't figure out which.

Yeah just dip your toes in the gay dating pool. You'll soon wish you were attracted to women

[–] Tattorack@lemmy.world 32 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Dating apps are a literal scam preying on loneliness and/or horniness.

[–] AliasVortex@lemmy.world 18 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Doesn't help that they're almost all owned by the same company...

we need fediverse dating apps

@foyuka Sie haben doch einander.

dating sucks cause people suck. collectively we hold ourselves to remarkably low standards.

[–] cheesybuddha@lemmy.world 5 points 3 months ago

They should just kiss

If you're in a big city, try 222. Shit is actually awesome. No matching,.no swiping. You just go to dinner with 5-7 random people, roughly even between men and women

In my experience, most of the "women" on dating apps turn out to be scammers. So many conversations that end up being a waste of time when they suddenly start asking for money/credit card numbers/giftcards.

It's not just women, but the amount of men's profiles that end up being scams is way lower. And really just on the big, traditional dating services like Tinder or Match.

The most successful tool of this nature I've ever used is Grindr. The service works, and if you just want a hookup it's easy and relatively quick to find someone. Too bad the app itself is just absolute garbage with the UX/UI. And since it's meant for gay men, there's not many women on there (but they are still there). πŸ˜”

What's with all the mgtow redpill crap being posted recently

[–] TheYojimbo@lemmy.world 36 points 3 months ago

I'm pretty sure the last phrase is to mock the "bros", not to be taken first degree.

OP's account was created 4 days ago and has only posted comics that clearly have controversies baked in tk make people mad and generate a lot of comments.

I've noticed a huge influx of accounts exactly like this in the past couple weeks. I don't know who it is or why but it's weird.

[–] NachBarcelona@piefed.social 7 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Please explain what's mgtow/redpill about this comic? Tf?

[–] gigachad@piefed.social 2 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago) (2 children)

Also please explain what mgtow is. And the pill thing, I always mix those up - is the red pill being incel or being a normie and not seeing how the world really is?

I think Men Going Their Own Way was initially ostensibly for men learning and supporting each other to be chill with being single for life. Nice stuff like appreciating walks in the forest, woodworking, etc. It got overrun with misogynists and became as spiteful as incels.

Before I almost gave up on dating I was looking for decent male communities and MGTOW superficially appeared to be what I wanted. I scratched the surface and ran away.

Someone should tell these men that you're allowed to do this stuff when you have a partner, hell the partner can even join in

[–] chonglibloodsport@lemmy.world 7 points 3 months ago

I don’t think that would help. These men aren’t rejecting a partner, they’re rejecting dating. Getting past the dating stage to the partnership stage is something they never succeeded at, so they’re giving up on it.

[–] ClockworkOtter@lemmy.world 3 points 3 months ago

I think people do try to get through to them, but the idea of being happily single got overrun with diskheads.
