Okay so yes it's green text but...

I know people who work at inpatient acute facilities and they are constantly having to cockblock people to prevent truly horrible things from happening (think anorexia dating borderline or NPD + NPD)

So while this particular story may not have happened, this general story happens daily.

[–] starchylemming@lemmy.world 63 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (2 children)

yeah you really really want to prevent them to have kids on accident. hell on purpose too.

those poor kids

one fucked up parent already fucks up a kid. imagine two

its a place where people calm down for the first time in forever, bored and together with others in the same situation. ofc romance ensures

[–] potatopotato@sh.itjust.works 51 points 1 week ago (4 children)

Worse yet a lot of mental health conditions have genetic components so the kids are basically getting the worst hand you can possibly deal them.

[–] ryannathans@aussie.zone 9 points 1 week ago (10 children)

We should get the government to put a licence on breeding so only the genetically strong can have children

That may be the best use of that meme I've seen. I appreciated the chuckle.

This thread went into eugenics stuff waaay too fast

Oops that's eugenics! I get the sentiment but instead we should have a ridiculous amount of resources freely available to children and new parents, healthcare childcare food assistance socialization education. It takes a village and all that.

I say we invert it. To prevent aristicracy and nepotism, the wealthy will be prohibited from reproducting. No one in the top 10% of income or wealth gets a baby license.

🤔🤔🤔🤔

[–] RalfWausE@feddit.org 60 points 1 week ago (2 children)

The essence of the story: Meeting people in person in the real world always is better than looking for someone special on some scammy dating site...

[–] CheesyFox@lemmy.sdf.org 13 points 1 week ago

especially considering that the dating service is interested in you looking for a partner, not actually finding one

30 day alcohol program is to encourage not drinking for 30 days right?

And not to be plastered for 30 days like the name implies.

[–] captainlezbian@lemmy.world 33 points 1 week ago (1 children)

The court has sentenced you to a month long bender. May Bacchus have mercy on your liver.

[–] Schadrach@lemmy.sdf.org 8 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Pretty sure given Bacchus is over both alcohol and madness, he's going to preside over their entire relationship. Fertility too, so they may want to be extra careful with protection.

yeah we're both trying to stay sober

[–] BigDiction@lemmy.world 8 points 1 week ago

Also dating during the first stages of recovery is widely discouraged. The point is to focus on yourself and feel good about yourself, not dump all your energy and focus into a new relationship.

At the very least they're taking each other off the market for the rest of us

Maybe this is a Sodium (explosive) + Chlorine (corrosive) = salt (delicious) type of situation?

If this story doesn't convince you that birth control should be free to anyone who wants it, then you're an idiot.

I knew a guy who met one of his wives while locked up in county jail.

By comparison, I know of a couple (met their kid), who had divorced and remarried each other so many times (often but not always with another marriage in between) that the last time they had to go to a different state because my state refused to do it yet again. Apparently the state will let you get married and divorced as many times as you'd like, but only so many times with the same partner.

[–] NOT_RICK@lemmy.world 7 points 1 week ago

That sounds like a supreme waste of money

Be warned:

    Anon is often crazy.
    Anon is often depressed.
Anon frequently shares thoughts that are immature, offensive, or incomprehensible.

If you find yourself getting angry (or god forbid, agreeing) with something Anon has said, you might be doing it wrong.

No where in that does it say to write your own greentexts, screenshot them, and then post them here.

[–] lessthanluigi@lemmy.sdf.org 45 points 1 week ago (1 children)

But it also doesn't say you CAN'T do that either, so it is free game!

When she's literally your kind of crazy.

[–] Senseless@feddit.org 26 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Can confirm. Got more actual dates with people that are legitimately interested in me from psychiatric hospitals and group therapy than online dating apps.

tinder limits the amount of matches you get per week (like 5 per week last i used it, 3y ago), so there's that
