Mildly Interesting

This is for strictly mildly interesting material. If it's too interesting, it doesn't belong. If it's not interesting, it doesn't belong.

This is obviously an objective criteria, so the mods are always right. Or maybe mildly right? Ahh.. what do we know?

Just post some stuff and don't spam.

I like the fist bump over the hand shake. More sanitary, and way more badass.

[–] YetAnotherNerd@sopuli.xyz 20 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Only if you then make * Explodey * hand gesture. Though I guess you could do snail & horns

They are uncorrupted. Your opinion matters. You must like yourself my brother in christ. Think of it like this; one is just the new zero.

Denmark almost started a war that day.

[–] zout@fedia.io 16 points 2 days ago (1 children)

It was in Afghanistan with the Mujahideen. In 1988 they were the good guys, and they had Osama Bin Laden in their ranks.

[–] phutatorius@lemmy.zip 2 points 2 days ago

Binladen was a bagman delivering Saudi money to the muj. He didn't fight. And the muj (mostly) weren't the same as later jihadis. More often, local warlords and their private armies, not primarily religious nutters.

So did they capitulate to a fascist?

[–] VonReposti@feddit.dk 40 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (1 children)

No, they made the US agree to join a workgroup to figure out how to proceed. This is a political tool we have seen tons of times in internal affairs when the politicians want to buy time, delay, and then 2-5 years later receive a report of the findings they will subsequently ignore. Highly effective.

In other words, Denmark defeated the military might of the US with diplomatic bureaucracy.

[–] laranis@lemmy.zip 7 points 2 days ago (1 children)

If it is a well known tactic then it is likely a facade. My guess is both sides are making preparations for violence.

[–] Madison420@lemmy.world 7 points 2 days ago

That's not a bet, that's a fact. There's a multi national force on it's way to Greenland to put themselves in the way so even if NATO or the un fail to intervene the US would be picking a fight with a half dozen well armed nations.

[–] TankovayaDiviziya@lemmy.world 13 points 2 days ago (1 children)

The Danes and Americans "agreed to disagree" according to report.

I have bias in saying this but I hold Europeans in higher regard than the Trump-appointed American officials when it comes to this. I mean, the Trump administration personifies the temper-throwing adolescent stage of USA as a country. Europe has a longer history to look back on.

Surrendering their citizens to tech in exchange for a coph of the data feed as we speak. Or trying to, denmark is leading the charge on chatcontrol and age checks. Trojan horses to ratfuck the internet, lock it down, connect everyone and every account to everything done or looked at, with half baked ai making threat assessments, secret social scores, courtesy of the fucking antichrist peter thiel's palantir and their ilk.

That is the bigger thing going under reported. The uk already surrendered their people, and cancelled the Magna Carta to boot, without a fight. Under labour too. I swear the populations are dosed with compliance pollutants because past generations would not stand for this.

The US will get a copy of all that info you better belirve it. As will oligarchs, foreign intelligence, hackers, they are making you vulnerable to everyone so they can spy on everything and everyone with new tech. Just as the nsa did prior. Look how that turned out for nat sec.

[–] Bigfishbest@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago

Compliance in the form of endless entertainment and distraction. Same shit happened in Rome with circuses, and fascist takeovers have happened many a time many a place. The price of freedom is eternal vigilance and people got complacent, lazy and stupid. Of course, the corporate enshittification of media and labor basically ensured it.
