Today is my best friends birthday. He would have been 50. Sadly he died on the 7th of this month.

Here one with him with my son who will turn 21 in March. He was always a good uncle to my kids.

This was the last time we saw him in person. He had been living in a nursing home for last three years. With him is my middle son.

Though we couldn't visit often (we live so far away) I spoke on the phone with him almost everyday.

I will miss him, he was best friend a guy could ask for. Won't ever have other like him.

he must have been a wonderful person, and ti have been with you and your son through his life. I'm sure he'll always be remembered, and I imagine he was happy to be a part of your lives.

cheers to him ๐Ÿ˜Š

edit: what is one of your favorite memories of him?

When we first met we would go to the movies every weekend. We each would take turns one day I would pay for the tickets and he pay for the popcorn, and vis versa. Well this one day it was my turn to pay for the tickets and to this day I can't remember what movie we ended up seeing, but it was at the same time that the first Rugrats movie was playing. Keep in mind my friend at the time was 6'4 and 350lbs. He excitedly asked "Can we go see the Rugrats movie!" I turned and just looked at him and then said "no" but as I turned back to the girl in the booth to pay for the tickets, my friend threw the hugest tempter tantrum I had every seen. He was so convincing that he scared the girl in the booth. At the top of his lungs he was screaming, "But daddy I want to see the Rugrats!" and would say it over and over again. And at the same time he is jumping up down, slamming his hands on the wall. I was embarrassed and shock, I thought he was for real, I mean I had only know him a couple of months at the time. Again I said "no" and turned back to girl and said in calm and dead tone, "Don't mind him he is just my retarded son." She replied, "oh I am sorry." Then took my money, gave us our tickets, and we went inside. Keep in mind my friend was five years older then me as well. Once inside he stop yelling and broke down laughing. That was a good memory. And I have plenty more and way better ones then that one.

oh my god he sounds hilarious ๐Ÿคฃ

I lost my best friend of 20+ years just before Christmas, I just wanted to say I think it's really cool you're keeping your buddy's memory alive. I hope to do the same some day.

just passed 3 years since my best friend died. I don't think about him everyday, anymore; but I think I miss him more every time I do.

you want to get hit in the feels? checkout Terry Allen covering Guy Clark's song Old Friends. I, personally, like the cover better than the original.

He had his moments like we all do, but in the end he best friend a man could ask for.

All we can ask for is to be remembered for a while when we're gone. Your friend must have been special to have their memory cherished like this.

Happy birthday.

He looks like he had a kind heart and a warm smile. I'm sorry for your loss, my friend.

My best friend died recently too. I still think about him all the time. I hope it hasnโ€™t been too hard on you, but I know it has. I feel for you, and Iโ€™m sorry for your loss.
