This community, !ab_dl@lemmynsfw.com ...
- So we've got this community some moderation now. But just relying on one person, me, creates a single point of failure in the future that would be nice to avoid by bringing on one or two more trusted and active moderators moderators.
- I hate that we have an underscore in our community name. I would personally prefer for it to be "abdl" instead of "ab_dl", but the Lemmy software seems to consider those to be the same thing, making it impossible for us to create or migrate to a new name. It may be possible to have the community renamed with admin intervention, but maybe not, I don't know.
- We have some rules that I made up off the top of my head. If there are any issues with them or if people would like to suggest changes, I'm very open to suggestions. But for now, I think they seem good.
- In order to turn this place into a real community we really need people to be more active with posts, links, comments, and discussions. (That's where you all come in! Don't be shy! Whether it's random thoughts, original content or sourced reposts from elsewhere on the internet, let's get populate this place!)
Other Fediverse communities...
- Unfortunately there are still a lot of "dead" ABDL communities on the various big Lemmy servers that were made in the wake of the last big Reddit drama exodus. Probably with the best of intentions, @ABDL_Network@lemmynsfw.com created a lot of Reddit clone communities here on LemmyNSFW and then went MIA, leaving a lot of unmoderated communities. Similarly, there is also !abdl@lemmy.world over on Lemmy.world that was created and then left unmoderated. It would be nice to eventually revive and restore some of these communities to a more healthy, moderated state. But we probably need a couple of active, long-term Fediverse users to do it.
- I'm aware of the Mastodon server abdl.link too. This is kind of a different thing, but it's got a couple hundred users and seems to have some ongoing activity, so people may be interested in checking that out at some point.
