Gotta say I much prefer a 500kcal Starbucks drink to any bitter swill for 10 quid most independent cafes can muster.

I never understand people who prefer the taste of Starbucks. McDonalds coffee of all chains serves better coffee than whatever harsh chokey liquid that S$ serves

These existing independent, and often family run, cafes are not expensive third wave coffee shops, if anything they are comparable to a greasy spoon. I was at Parliament Hill Cafe the other day, and from memory a flat white was around £3.80. Compare that to Daisy Green, which charges £4.30 for a flat white.

£4.30 for bitter swill then. At least Starbucks coffee doubles as brekky
