I absolutely promise you that there will come a day when we dream of having the set of problems we are currently dealing with. We will look back at the innocence and care free joy of 2025.

Everything only gets worse. So while today might be the worst day in history, this is the best it's ever going to be. Remember how bad things were under Bush? Tell me you wouldn't trade everything to wake up in 2003. In 20 years you will dream of this life.

Not just tRump assets (though they absolutely need to come out of this destitute), but also Peter Theil, Elon Musk, Stephen Miller, Pete Hegseth, and Pam Bondi. They were his circle of evil.

[–] Mulligrubs@lemmy.world 5 points 8 hours ago

All we had to do is use the emoluments clause, years ago. Oh well, it doesn't matter now.

[–] bunchberry@lemmy.world 5 points 9 hours ago

Democrats will rehabilitate Trump the moment he's out of office.

My opinion over an image

This place is getting worse than Facebook :(

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA OMG THIS IS SO FUNNY HAHAHAHAHAHA YOU MUST BE SOME KIND OF RIGHTOID HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Lemmy has such a problem with content genericization.

[–] Credibly_Human@lemmy.world 36 points 1 day ago (2 children)

People making shit posts like this and the hopebait pretending there will magically be punishment and restoration "once this is all over" are part of the problem.

They want to talk like its a foregone conclusion that the evil will fail and the good will prosper, but history has shown us anything but this happening, and we've literally seen no signs that they won't continue getting exactly what they want with only mild delays and roadblocks.

[–] muusemuuse@sh.itjust.works 5 points 10 hours ago (2 children)

Trump is literally dying in front of us. Once the cult leader falls, there absolutly will be a reckoning. His base is tied to him specifically, not the party.

[–] gustofwind@lemmy.world 3 points 9 hours ago (2 children)

Wishful thinking. Go watch the videos of bush administration lackeys defending the Iraq war or Abu Graib. They were reelected shortly after all that came out. The conservative and evangelical coalition has always been there and is well beyond trump.

Dems are 100% capable of losing the next election

[–] muusemuuse@sh.itjust.works 1 points 4 hours ago

Trump has outright defied everything the evangelicals stood for. They now only stand for Trump. When he’s gone, they won’t be able to revert and what’s left of the GOP can’t sustain itself as Trump is embedded in everything they do now.

[–] Mulligrubs@lemmy.world 1 points 8 hours ago

I'm pretty sure they will win, the good cop-bad cop routine will continue as usual.

At least until the dollar collapses. They're all making a fortune.

[–] Mulligrubs@lemmy.world 1 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

No, it's not tied to him specifically. Why would you think that? There will be a new "Trump" immediately after he's dead.

It's easy money, and the blood is in the water.

[–] muusemuuse@sh.itjust.works 2 points 4 hours ago* (last edited 4 hours ago)

There will always be a new Hitler. It’s a generational thing. But Trump kind of spent all the social currency the fascists we’re saving up, which is why those all over the world are getting their evil in while they can.

They aren’t anticipating a legacy. They are planning for blowback. So they are doing everything they can hoping some of it survives.

[–] turmacar@lemmy.world 4 points 12 hours ago (2 children)

Also, frankly, even if the Trump family was as wealthy as Trump claims. Or had as much physical cash as Elon has assets / investments. It would be a drop in the bucket.

Nations operate on scales that are orders of magnitude larger than any privately owned wealth. That's kind of the point. This would be like levying a $1000 fine for a billion dollars in damages and expecting it to "be fixed".

[–] Mulligrubs@lemmy.world 1 points 8 hours ago* (last edited 8 hours ago)

This isn't true, there are a few "old money" families that control international business. Morgan. Rothschild. Rockefeller. They have been acquiring wealth for centuries on a staggering scale. I'm reading about their manipulation of world war one now, it's disheartening.

None of them can compete with the Catholic church yet, but they're working on it.

[–] phx@lemmy.world 3 points 11 hours ago

I'm actually willing to believe that between all the bribes and scams they probably do have a lot of money now, but it's also going to be hidden in places that would be very hard to track down or impossible to retrieve (Russian Banks etc)

[–] TheAlbatross@lemmy.blahaj.zone 114 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Is the humor thinking America will ever hold any of its actors accountable?

He was more of a sketch comedian turned Senator/podcaster than an actor, but they DID hold Al Franken accountable. Some would say excessively so.

[–] SlartyBartFast@sh.itjust.works 23 points 1 day ago (2 children)
[–] FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world 25 points 1 day ago (5 children)

It's a nice thought, but I don't think the American people have it in them to punish Donald and his family appropriately.

We didn't even punish the Confederacy appropriately, and those bastards killed hundreds of thousands of people.

[–] tym@lemmy.world 1 points 11 hours ago

Only two states (Colorado and Maine) removed the insurrectionist from the 2024 ballot. SCOTUS put him back on. It's either a bipartisan effort to prepare for AI taking entry level work, or complete fear of more J6's. Given how many politicians they've murdered since (that nobody talks about), my money is literally on the bipartisan effort to build infrastructure to house the undesirables-of-the-month as we reach peak enshittification via AI.

If anyone has news on a serious push toward UBI that I've missed, feel free to correct me.

[–] mrgoosmoos@lemmy.ca 4 points 1 day ago (1 children)

the trump admin has killed hundreds of thousands of people

[–] Alcoholicorn@mander.xyz 4 points 19 hours ago (1 children)
[–] SleeplessCityLights@programming.dev 2 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

Nice whataboutism. What about my ballz in your mouth?

[–] Alcoholicorn@mander.xyz 1 points 1 hour ago

The subject was the US people holding a past president responsible for causing the deaths of hundreds of thousands.

Pointing out the last 2 presidents did that and weren't held responsible isn't whataboutism.

Now go back to sucking off the libs who got us here. If you do a really good job, they might rehabilitate Trump in a few years while maintaining and expanding 98% of his policies like the did Bush.

It won't happen if you elect a "heal the country" Democrat. Elect someone whose entire platform is justice.

[–] Sunflier@lemmy.world 1 points 9 hours ago* (last edited 9 hours ago)

Why just justice? Biden "went down that path". I want the next guy/gal to run on a platform of petty revenge. I want the next guy to promise these people will suffer for their actions in this administration. Since the 4th Amendment's limitation against unreasonable searches and seizures isn't applying anymore, maybe that means the next guy isn't bound by the 8th Amendment's prohibition of cruel and unusual punishments. So, don't just send them to jail. Torture them on live tv for all to get to watch and enjoy. Make them beg for death before finally giving it to them on live tv.

[–] Viking_Hippie@lemmy.dbzer0.com 14 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Not going to happen until all of the "centrist" (actually right wing corporatist) Democrats in charge of the party get out of the way.

They'll never not prioritize the comfort of their owner donors MUCH higher than the needs and wants of the general populace they're supposed/pretending to serve.

[–] Fizz@lemmy.nz 7 points 1 day ago (2 children)

The only way to "heal the country" is justice. To make it clear to the right that this is unacceptable. There needs to be arrests for all trumps political staff, friends in the media and any tech billionaires who broke the laws supporting him.

[–] Ryanmiller70@lemmy.zip 7 points 1 day ago (1 children)

We're gonna need A LOT more than just arrests. We're gonna need to strike the fear of death into anyone that might even so much as think of doing this shit again.

"When" lmao this guy is optimistic.

[–] AA5B@lemmy.world 7 points 1 day ago

Well cheetoh-brain is clearly too old for his position and in failing health. It’s only a matter of time, and not much of that. There’s every chance he won’t live out his term

It’s the family and hangers-on that are the problem. They’ve already looted billions from the country so are now part of the excessively wealthy. When they no longer have a presidential pardon to lean on, they are at risk of justice. It could happen

Right now my biggest fear is one of them turning that money into a political dynasty

[–] NABDad@lemmy.world 17 points 1 day ago

I'd be happy just seeing them all hanging from piano wire.

[–] D_C@sh.itjust.works 20 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Over. When will it ever be over...When the fat paedo leaves office? Nope. He won't leave office until he's dead. If he's not dead when his term finishes he'll just stay in control by force.

So when he's dead?...nope, the rest of his scummy vomited sperm with legs will use all the means at hand to bribe their way out of it. Then they'll carry on being just as disgusting as they are now.

Just fucking do it today, by force. Then get his pieces of shit children next. Then investigate, then imprison. Don't wait, FFS.

Baron is going to be the problem going forward after these clowns are dumped. They have been grooming that for years now.

[–] HurlingDurling@lemmy.world 14 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Not just the trump assets, the assets of all the tech billionaires and other billionaires that profited of the misery of the american people

Financial obesity is an existential threat to any society that tolerates it, and needs to cease being celebrated, rewarded, and positioned as an aspirational goal.

Corporations are the only ‘persons’ which should be subjected to capital punishment, but billionaires should be euthanised through taxation.

[–] notgivingmynametoamachine@lemmy.world 9 points 1 day ago (1 children)

And all of the justly tried and convicted traitors should receive capital punishment - no living out the rest of your life on the taxpayers dime.
