There is this movie Sleuth in which Caine plays alongside Olivier. The whole movie is basically a dick measuring contest and these two make it look easy. Caine got this "i can do this whole day" energy in the movie.

Kenneth Branagh later did another adaptation of that play with Harold Pinter writing the script but there was Jude Law playing Caine's character and it looked like child abuse because Law can't fucking hang with Caine. Probably should've been Branagh and Caine instead.

He is the one that brought the whole thing together. He really leaned in and played it straight. This one and Scrooged are the only versions I ever watch.

Michael Cain absolutely nailed it.

“If I am real, it makes the puppets real.”

Love it.

I learned that as someone with an American accent, the best way to impersonate Michael Cane is to say "my cocaine" while attempting to speak like like him.

When I was a kid I used to say to my dad "Dad" and he would go "Yes sir Michael Caine" and I would just open my mouth and point in it and wait for him to pour beans in there.
