Oh NOES! Out of a $900B budget, Medicaid, an extremely complicated accounting problem, paid a paltry $200 million to dead people.

Why can't we get articles about how much GOOD Medicaid does people, instead of inflammatory, click-bait bullshit news stories?

Meanwhile, the SSA has been making unusual updates to the file itself, adding and removing records, and complicating its use. For instance, the Trump administration in April moved to classify thousands of living immigrants as dead and cancel their Social Security numbers to crack down on immigrants who had been temporarily allowed to live in the U.S. under programs started during the Biden administration.

Really glad that the journalist for this article waited until the very last line to add the important context of the actual reason that this admin wants the rule.

Medicaid programs made more than $200 million in improper payments to health care providers

Gee, maybe we should do something about the healthcare industry...

Medicare and Medicaid overpayment rules are very strict, and offices caught not repaying overpayment within 30 days are harshly penalized. This is poor reporting and I want details, especially since in my area at least, Medicaid pays about $11 for a PCP office visit.

Eta: I'd like to know how much Medicaid overpayed PBMs like CVS.

This is only 1/3 of what Trump just paid to Florida in "FEMA disaster aid" because they had to shut down Alligator Alcatraz. Its also $30M less than Trump just paid himself in a government settlement for the "pain and suffering" he endured for being investigated over all the classified documents he stole and kept in his bathroom. Its also only 2/3 of the cost the government is paying to build a single ballroom in the White House.

AP News: "Breaking News: commoners receive a few dollars that they weren't entitled to! Has Medicaid gone too far this time?"
