Those are not mutually exclusive. ADHD people notice different things in life than others do.

I think of it like a flash light. Normal people have the beam spread out, they can see more but with less with focus on any one thing. We have the beam real narrow so we can see one thing really well, but that is it. Also the flashlight is held by a phantom hand we don't always control.

I think the level of noise filtering is lower in ADHD brains. It can lead to over-stimulation which means missing things and fatigue but a well rested ADHD person will tend to notice more than a NT. Being insensitive to the passage of time also gives the impression that we don't care about meetings and are forgetful. Letting go of that has been a blessed relief.
