Reminds me of a joke:

Dogs: Humans feed me and pick up my litter! They must be gods!

Cats: Humans feed me and pick up my litter! I must be a god!

If more money wouldn't change the way you live your life you're already rich.

[–] Taldan@lemmy.world 10 points 5 days ago

If I had more money, I wouldn't change anything about how I live. Right up until the point where I live the same, except without working, which would be an incredible increase in my quality of life

I just want to spend time with friends and family, while doing my hobbies :(

excuse me it would not change my routine the slightest but i would tip the fuck out of everyone i saw.

open the door for me? twenty bucks. wave hi? twenty bucks? rob me? twenty bucks. you know i'm good for it.

tipping culture is a part of the trap, if lures workers into not realizing the value of their own labor, while essentially subsidizing cheapskate businesses

this is not only about gratitude it's about what's at stake and what it's all about

[–] lath@piefed.social 10 points 5 days ago

Hi rich, I'm dad.

This needs to be understood, especially in the throes of a capitalist hellscape - currency isn't the only source of wealth. Emotional fulfilment is a far more valuable form of wealth than money.

We're rich!

[–] joyjoy@lemmy.zip 4 points 5 days ago

I'm rich (cultural victory)

[–] WorldsDumbestMan@lemmy.today 1 points 5 days ago

I want to be this kind of rich...

...but need to actually be rich first.

Greenpeace corporate propaganda.

Be glad you have something to eat

Be glad you get to sit in the sun

Be glad you get to socialise

Be glad you get to go outside

Wow. So much richness.

[–] Timecircleline@sh.itjust.works 16 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Bleak take. I thought it was about gratitude and reframing.

[–] Nanook@lemmy.zip -5 points 5 days ago (3 children)

TIL having the food, time, relationships, and space that you want is actually bad. We must always desire for more

[–] LordMayor@piefed.social 5 points 5 days ago

No one can make you feel inferior without your consent.

I feel like this is how self made billionaires think:

Oh my first million...yet Oh my first 10 million...yet Oh my first 100 million...yet Oh my first billion...yet

You don't HAVE to be content with your wealth to find happiness at any level.

[–] IronBird@lemmy.world 1 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago)

tbf, you really learn just how rigged everything is when you get the first million. just enough you start to feel comfortable about going into serious business for yourself perhaps, to leave something behind for your kids or family so atleast 1-2 more people dont have to start from nothing again...then, depending on where you live the local robber barons flex their muscles and try to fuck you around.

only difference between the cities and rural america is most of these bumfuck city councils have less organized labor to contend with (which, US city-labor is already pretty pathetic)

How are those not things to be glad over? I'm very glad when I'm able to do those things because I'm not always able to do them. It makes me feel lucky and happy. Anyone who doesn't feel those are things to be glad over need to check their privilege, they're spoiled and shitty.

And I dislike greenpeace too, not defending them at all.
