Hanukkah party tonight. Mother got me, twin, and my husband a gift. I know me and twins but unsure about husband's. He was ready to not get a gift (mother really dislikes him) and gave her an out with he thought the gift she got me was for both of us cause it's so helpful for me (it will be)

But she got something.

I feel okay so dear fuck do I hope that sticks until and through the party. Mother knows I'm going through medical shit hell though so if I have to leave (all three of us would though) she might not be that mad.

I'm broke. My gift to her to candied jalapeños and apple butter for her husband. I'll also give her the first items made in the pressure canner.

Homemade gifts are honestly the best. I will most likely use Christmas as an excuse to bake a bunch of bread for people.

Well, mother will like the homemade gift! Her husband is weird. I'll have no idea what he thinks until mother calls later annoyed at...whatever I did at the party that I won't understand til later. Cause no one corrects problems as they come up, I'm suppose to be a mindreader!

I dread parties.

Nice red carpet

I was planning on driving 300+ miles this weekend to take the fam over to my folks for Christmas but there's a big storm on the mountain pass between us. So, we decided to stay home.

In some ways it's disappointing because I haven't seen my parents and siblings for a bit but I'm also kind of relieved that we can have a quiet, relaxing week. It's usually pretty chaotic at my parents house and driving so far in the winter out here is stressful.

It's bittersweet, kinda like really dark chocolate. 🍫

We've had those weekends. Now we live about 15 minutes away from the inlaws so don't have that excuse when the weather is bad.

I'm trying to mod NVMe support into my 12 year old motherboard's UEFI. I could probably do without it, but where's the fun in that?

Went cycling with a friend, it was very muddy and dark, but was nice catching up. We stopped at this little cafe for mugs of glogg. I picked up a christmas tree on the way home. We are organizing a christmas party for friends tomorrow (unless this throat ache turns to something more serious...), which is nice! I feel like a new page has turned and it's time to start doing things instead of waiting them to happen.

For some reason I pictured you taking a Christmas tree home on a bike 😆

[–] Jojowski@sopuli.xyz 2 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I did actually :D the bottom of it was on the handlebars and top pointing backwards, over the bike, I held the tree on the saddle with my other hand while walking the bike home. And it's not even the craziest thing I've carried on a bike 🤣

Wow, I'm impressed! Cargo bike for the win

[–] Jojowski@sopuli.xyz 2 points 1 week ago

I have a small cargo with large front and rear racks, it's a model originally built for factory workers/mechanics to haul their tool box (and themselves) around the work site. And I have a small trailer, which I rarely use, but it has served well when I did (I've used it a couple timed when me or a friend has moved flats and also partially moved a bike shop to another location 😂). A proper cargo would be nice but there really isn't that much use for one at the moment. Occasional christmas tree travels well enough on the back of my everyday bike!

Sounds nice. What is glogg?

[–] Jojowski@sopuli.xyz 2 points 1 week ago (1 children)

It's similar to mulled wine but made from juice (usually blackcurrant or apple). Traditionally raisins and almond flakes are added to the drink. Very popular during Christmas time!

[–] Lexam@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

That sounds delicious.

Oh yes, one of my two cats LOVES the felt texture of the ribbon-dancer. (The other cat expresses cat-like indifference.) I don’t understand how he can stand chewing on it, that would immediately drive my sensory nerves and neurons into red alert. Weirdo cat. 😂❤️🐈
