How about drug testing all the politicians every week?

[–] unphazed@lemmy.world 22 points 3 weeks ago (3 children)

I figure so many of them are so old the drug test would come out inconclusive due to the drug cocktails they probably take daily. Just think of all the shit people have to take in retirement homes then add in a factor of free healthcare and access to top tier doctors who can prescribe without concern over ethics.

[–] vk6flab@lemmy.radio 15 points 3 weeks ago (2 children)

Perhaps we should treat our politicians like athletes and expect a top performance free of doping.

[–] Almacca@aussie.zone 10 points 3 weeks ago

Or make them retire before they're geriatric.

[–] Johnmannesca@lemmy.world 3 points 3 weeks ago

Is that why filibusters can last so long?

[–] rumba@lemmy.zip 3 points 3 weeks ago

inconclusive due to the drug cocktails they probably take daily.

Let's just check for alcohol and opiates.

[–] Doomsider@lemmy.world 3 points 3 weeks ago

Sounds like a fail to me. We will hold them to the same standards we would be held to. Can't give a clean test then you are fired. We are also definitely going to watch you pee just like they do to all the poors as well. Turnabout is fair play.

Watch how fast drug tests would be made illegal.

Via spinal tap to be sure

This makes me unreasonably upset. Farmers need to be drug tested AND breathalyzed. They also need to provide up to date household income information, including the gross income of anyone living on their property. They should also be required to provide last 3 to 5 employer references, verification they are working 40 hours per week or volunteering an equivalent amount at a state approved business, this all has to be done on an online site that requires desktop computer access. You can't use Chrome or Firefox, only Microsoft Edge. If they don't fill out the forms and attach the appropriately filled out paper documents properly, they will get a mailed statement letting them know they were denied and can re file after a 30 day waiting period. They can call to speak to their case manager, but there is only a phone tree that takes them to voicemail. If they miss the call back from the case manager, their file will be flagged as unresponsive and may require filling out all forms and paperwork again. They may also be denied because of typos, unfinished forms on the case manager side, or an unreasonable reading of acceptance rules.

This is not commentary on social services in America at all /s

Boooo! Keep the corn coming.

[–] snooggums@piefed.world 29 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago) (1 children)

Corn farmers should be drug-tested every 90 days if they want a government handout.

[–] Kertyna@feddit.nl 20 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Corn farmers should be 🌽-tested every 90 🌽 if they want government 🌽.

[–] SanctimoniousApe@lemmings.world 16 points 3 weeks ago (3 children)

Who can be trusted to keep accurate count of the corn cobs?

[–] mojofrododojo@lemmy.world 1 points 3 weeks ago

who cornholes cornholnelius?

[–] The_v@lemmy.world 1 points 3 weeks ago

The USDA-NASS is responsible for making an estimate of the number of corn cobs in the U.S. Most other countries have similar organizations.

To do so they send surveys out to ask farmers what they think. The farmers answer completely truthfully because lying would inflate the prices they get on their corn cobs.

[–] takeda@lemmy.dbzer0.com 8 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Remove the corn subsidies!

[–] SanctimoniousApe@lemmings.world 3 points 3 weeks ago

You ever tried farming not high? It's boring as shit.

[–] LORDSMEGMA@sh.itjust.works 8 points 3 weeks ago

I love quoting that one

[–] cows_are_underrated@feddit.org 4 points 3 weeks ago

Depends. Its something you have to ve made for, but driving up and down the field the whole day can be quite relaxing. Its also ideal for listening to podcasts.

Doing this while being high is not only quite dangerous, but can also lead to quite poor results.

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 24 points 3 weeks ago

So should all members of Congress and the White House.

Drug tests are expensive theater. If the goal is accountability, audits and transparent reporting actually work.
