The migration is complete and we're up and running. You might notice some small data loss, but hopefully nothing major.

As a recap, our current host is going out of business, so we were required to move to a new one.

As part of this migration, we also moved to using object storage on backblaze instead of local storage.

All of this should mostly be transparent to the users. One thing not transparent is that old.ttrpg.network is currently not back up yet. Not sure when/if we will be able to support it on the new host yet, so stay tuned.

As an aside, this is probably a good time to shill for the site; Due to this migration and change, costs are going up. Not majorly, but still going up none-the-less.

So in light of that, i just want to mention that we have a ko-fi, which currently rakes in a whopping $0 per month (we had some early donations way back in the beginning, but that's two years ago). The site is free to use and will continue to be so, but anything you feel like donating is always appreciated. Even a dollar or two helps.

I'm seeing a lot of broken image fallback icons; mostly for community icons and banners, as well as thumbnails for images posted before the migration. Am I the only one experiencing this?

Yeah, there was some indexing issues with some of the images when we migrated. Stuff had to be cleaned up, but i think we lost a number of thumbnails with those issues. It should just be mostly thumbnails that were affected of some existing stuff; I'm not aware of way to regenerate thumbnails outside of just uploading a new image.

Glad a new host was found.

It does seem to be really slow, but hopefully that changes as everything caches and indexes or whatever it does.

yeah, there was some database indexing issues, so we had to reindex it, plus the server needs to catch up on 3~4 days of fediverse activity. Hopefully things should even out. I'm not noticing too much slowness myself, though.

Things appear to be faster already.
