Sources are telling us the trailer for Avengers: Doomsday will have a unique rollout, one aimed at getting diehards to see Avatar: Fire and Ash multiple times.

Get this: Disney is sending theaters four different trailers for the Marvel mega-movie — each will play for one week, before switching to the next. So, if you see Fire and Ash opening weekend, you’ll get trailer one. If you go a week later, you’ll get trailer two, and so on. Marvel had no comment on the rollout.

aimed at getting diehards to see Avatar: Fire and Ash multiple times.

That just will not happen. Not for this reason. The economy, plus people's cooling interest in Avatar movies, plus lower ticket sales in general, plus the fact that they give away too much in trailers these days anyway... All just to see a trailer for another movie? I mean, I'm going to see it and enjoy one of the trailers. But that's all I want to see.

There was a time when people would pay to see a film, watch the trailers, then leave. But for all the reasons you mentioned, that isn't the case anymore.

Additionally... We have YouTube and then some now. Sure a couple hundred people (globally) will buy that extra ticket, and then they'll immediately post ~~on Lemmy~~ online what was new. Then once four weeks pass, they'll all be online in HD.

So ultimately it seems pointless.

However that will keep the buzz for the films for at least 4 weeks. So maybe that alone will be worth it.

Cool. I'll just wait for them to hit YouTube like everyone else.

Makes the whales buy four tickets for the same movie to see an ad for another movie.

They'll all be on ~~YouTube~~ Disney+ so...

I will say, I have enjoyed the two Avatar movies so far, and Cameron's vision is ambitious enough for me to want to see if he can pull it off.

Not enough to see the same movie 4 times...

Cool, guess it will be easy to avoid the trailers this time. Wasn't planning on seeing the Avatar movie.

That is gayer than 5 guys having sex with 6 guys.
