Eldest son of Donald Trump makes speculative comments during tirade against Volodymyr Zelenskyy and EU

Donald Trump may walk away from the Ukrainian war, the US president’s oldest son has said in comments to a Middle East conference.

In a lengthy tirade against the purpose of continued fighting in Ukraine, Donald Trump Jr also said Ukraine’s “corrupt” rich had fled their country leaving “what they believed to be the peasant class” to fight the war.

Trump Jr has no formal role inside his father’s administration, but is a key figure in the MAGA movement. His intervention reflects the antipathy among some inside the Trump team towards the Ukrainian government, and comes as Trump’s negotiating team is putting pressure on Kyiv to give up territory.

Can someone please tell me what his official government position that warrants his comment or the validity of it?

[–] ScrambledEggs@lazysoci.al 46 points 11 months ago (1 children)

I think he is the official drug sniffer.

[–] harmbugler@piefed.social 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

They are probably planning on deals with their new ally Russia instead.

[–] AshMan85@lemmy.world 7 points 11 months ago (1 children)
[–] comrade_twisty@feddit.org 19 points 11 months ago (1 children)

New ally of the formerly western oriented democratic United States.

[–] JeeBaiChow@lemmy.world 4 points 11 months ago (1 children)

You mean formerly western-oriented, formerly democratic, formerly united, states.

[–] comrade_twisty@feddit.org 1 points 11 months ago

Yup, perfect characterization.

[–] WanderingThoughts@europe.pub 4 points 11 months ago (1 children)

And meanwhile China is doing its best to have Russia submit to them. So in the end Xi is using Putin as a hand puppet to get Trump to do what Xi wants. That's a weird influence game.

china is halfway there, buying up siberias natural resouces, and russia utterly dependant on china for trade. russia is nothing more than a vassal state, much like NK is. china likes to have its buffer states against its perceived enemies. pakistan against india(friends with benefits since they helped pakistan developed thier nukes), russia against the west, Nk AGAINST its asian neighbors.

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 2 points 11 months ago

only a putin deal.

[–] ProfThadBach@lemmy.world 36 points 11 months ago (1 children)

What the fuck would Don Jr know about the peasant class or anything about war fighting? He would not have shit if he were not a nepo hire.

[–] Kirp123@lemmy.world 5 points 11 months ago

He should stick to sniffing cocaine.

[–] snooggums@piefed.world 30 points 11 months ago (2 children)

In a lengthy tirade against the purpose of continued fighting in Ukraine, Donald Trump Jr also said Ukraine’s “corrupt” rich had fled their country leaving “what they believed to be the peasant class” to fight the war.

If this was true (it isn't) he is saying that the US should stop supporting the less we'll off because the corrupt people left. He is saying we should only support a country while the corrupt wealthy people are still there.

[–] widowdoll@ttrpg.network 7 points 11 months ago (1 children)

It actually is true.

Rich people never fight in wars.

[–] snooggums@piefed.world 2 points 11 months ago (1 children)

It is false because the stated cause, "corrupt rich people leaving", is not true so it would not lead to the "peasant class" being left behind to do the fighting.

Yes, the "peasant class" always fights the wars, but not because of something that didn't happen.

Thank you. It's so dumb when you think about it for even a second or two. "The corrupt people left, so we shouldn't support the honest ones there?"

[–] melsaskca@lemmy.ca 24 points 11 months ago

It's sad that the President of the United States of America's cocaine addicted son is given the opportunity to make opinion statements to the public.

[–] flandish@lemmy.world 17 points 11 months ago (1 children)

my neighbors are refugees from ukraine. while personally they are douchebags whose love of small engines and car repair means the alley between our house (my bedroom) and their apartment contains a tire machine, air compressor, and eight snow blowers… two motorcycles on the porch and four cars in a 2 car driveway… I worry they’ll get booted back to ukraine and war if trumps nonsense pulls the rug from under them.

[–] northernlights@lemmy.today 10 points 11 months ago (1 children)

I had a Ukrainian colleague who enrolled in the national guard specifically because they give you citizenship after your training and he couldn't get kicked back like that. Now he might have to participate in the ridiculous operations this oppressive regime is now using them for :/

[–] flandish@lemmy.world 3 points 11 months ago

the US pretending to give citizenship or safety for “help” is a tale as old as time.

[–] puppinstuff@lemmy.ca 17 points 11 months ago

EU: Okay so we’ll stop buying US munitions to send to Ukraine.

US: “No wait no like that…”

[–] random_character_a@lemmy.world 16 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Fuck you Donald. Just stay there. Someone might rare game hunt your ass someday.

[–] Tryenjer@lemmy.world 8 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago) (4 children)

This will be known in history as the Great Betrayal. What a disgrace Trump is to the USA.

[–] watson387@sopuli.xyz 14 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Why would anyone care what this dipshit has to say?

[–] palordrolap@fedia.io 10 points 11 months ago

Because he's been on Russia's payroll for a while (and likely his dad too), so like a stopped clock being right twice a day, when Don Jr. suggests that the US is thinking about not supporting an enemy of Russia, it might be worth thinking there's some truth to it.

[–] JeeBaiChow@lemmy.world 14 points 11 months ago (1 children)

And the extortion continues...

[–] Formfiller@lemmy.world 11 points 11 months ago (2 children)
