Yeah, yet another misleading clickbait headline.
Yep, this really scared me at first but while reading it does say:
Intel supplying Apple-designed, Arm-based chips would differ from the era of Intel-based Macs, which used Intel-designed processors with x86 architecture.
Overheating laptops! Just like the good old days.
Jokes aside, why would Apple want to work with Intel after proving they were unreliable in the past?
Because before, they were buying Intel’s chips, many of which were being fabbed by TSMC.
Now, Apple is developing the chips to their own specs, and Intel is joining TSMC as a fab house. Apple controls the design and manufacturing volumes, is the sole customer for the chips, and has an alternative fab house they can turn to if either Intel or TSMC falls down on the job.
Probably because of some shady US government deals. They bought a lot of Intel shares and there are probably some favors being called here.
M5 Macbook Pro is already close to that…
