My K-12 education was okay (with college certainly being better), but either way information like this was sadly neglected IME. That, and basic facts about how capitalism really works, and the fact that the States have been on vastly shakier ground since day one than the body of Americans remotely realise.
So, kinda fun to learn about this stuff the more I read and think, but also kind of infuriating that it took this much extra effort & awareness. :S

Or do you think them cranking out ~30 posts and ~20 comments a day, every day, is a bit spammy?
If you think it's all that high quality (they do seem to all be lengthy) that's almost nonstop dedication from that account to continuously post to Lemmy.
But most people don't just think "more and longer means better comment".
Oh I'm sorry, I thought we were talking about the comment in the post, not the entirety of the commenter's posting history. Silly me!
And nearly every meme in historymemes comes with additional historical context explaining the joke. You're dismissing a lot of effort.
I posted a 5,808 word treatise loaded with professional photography and graphs the other day and got a grand total of 56 upvotes on it. Meanwhile, about a year back I slapped a zero effort picture of my fat-ass cat parked in front a mini split heater unit and it remains to this very day my top rated Lemmy post of all time. Hell, the literal shitpost I made last week about cramming some of my camera junk into a Harbor Freight case attracted more interest and attention than the former.
Widespread exposure of content β especially general interest content β that attracts some arbitrary number of up arrows is not indicative of quality, and it sure as shit doesn't have anything to do with effort. If it did, the Internet would be a very different place.
In other words: Your boos mean nothing to me. I've seen what makes all of you cheer.
Just wanted to say that I greatly appreciate your content and upvote each time I see it. Thank you for the fantastically written knife reviews.
I am steadfast in my assertion that your reviews are one of the highlights of my lemmy scrolling. I did miss this one, though. :)

I got the boker mini balisong and you were absolutely right, insanely good quality for 40 bucks. Had to loctite the screws because the handles got sloppy real fast but other than that it's been a treat.

I really hope you either like the knife a lot, or really enjoyed expressing yourself, which is the goal of art (which writing is).

For sure. The above wasn't a complaint, just my observation on the difference in popularity between niche nerd stuff (58 upvotes) and something that's of widespread general interest (cats).
