Every time I see stories like this I feel sorry for the kid. Never learning to socialize with other kids their own age, and not getting taken seriously by adults until they're much older.

Nah, her educational track allowed her to skip right past the "She thinks she's sooo smart. Let's show her she's not so smart," phase of her life, disappointing many student and teacher bullies.

Never learning to socialize with other kids their own age

Even when going through a normal education system, this would not happen. The difference in both ability and interests is so large that there's little shared basis for socialization. This way there's at least some socialization.

not getting taken seriously by adults until they're much older.

Why do you think that's the case?

And it usually turns out there were a number of loopholes or special exceptions made. Every rich family wants to have a "child prodigy"

Still extremely impressive and way smarter than any of us, but the gap is not as drastic as it is often made out to be

Incredibly smart and without the wisdom to understand that extending the lifespan is actually a very bad thing in nearly every conceivable way.

Jesse, what the hell are you talking about?

In the article, the kid himself explains that he is doing all this because he wants to create support humans who are biologically immortal

And that's a physics PhD? Huh. Thanks. Yeah, he needs guidance.
