Welcome to the discussion of US Politics!

Rules:

  1. Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.

Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
  3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

Persecution fetish

[–] Jarix@lemmy.world 12 points 1 day ago

Women fucking over other women. This does so much harm to actual victims of abuse.

[–] Adderbox76@lemmy.ca 38 points 2 days ago (1 children)

The literal Trump Derangement Syndrome

[–] A_norny_mousse@feddit.org 8 points 1 day ago

I always thought that was the term's original meaning anyhow.

[–] Sidyctism2@discuss.tchncs.de 22 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Reminds me of a case in germany where some nazi chopped a few of his fingers off and then tried to pin it on "the antifa"

[–] A_norny_mousse@feddit.org 11 points 1 day ago

True story! It was even wilder than that, but I don't remember fully anymore. I think they were trying to get unemployment benefits?

[–] jj4211@lemmy.world 16 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Someone is going to rationalize it by saying "while it was false, it was "directionally true", just what the leftists would do so it's worth thinking about.

[–] T00l_shed@lemmy.world 10 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Like when they showed pictures of destitute areas in the US, under trump, saying this is what will happen under biden?

[–] jj4211@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago

Yes, also, their excuse for why "they're eating the pets" was worth hearing out even as it was demonstrably false. Because even if it didn't exactly happen, it is a reasonable perspective on what "those people" would do...

[–] Archangel1313@lemmy.ca 96 points 2 days ago (2 children)

What the actual fuck is wrong with these people?

[–] MisterOwl@lemmy.world 69 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

They're literally insane.

[–] aramis87@fedia.io 37 points 2 days ago (1 children)

In this case, I'm guessing mental illness and a desire for attention. Apparently she was making shit up in high school as well, though not to this extent

[–] Sludge@sh.itjust.works 8 points 1 day ago

Gonna be honest, I did not understand what this title was claiming until I read the article. Holy shit, some people ... Wow!

[–] ThePantser@sh.itjust.works 63 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I hope the scars never fade so you always have to look at the stupid shit you did.

[–] Drusas@fedia.io 4 points 1 day ago

She's only 26 and may well have psychiatric issues. I understand that desire, but.... She could still grow up and realize how crazy this was. Having facial scars can be very life-altering, especially for women. Not to mention the legal implications.

[–] Odo@lemmy.world 27 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Reminds me of the idiot years ago who carved "B.O." into her cheeks in an attempt to blame Obama supporters... only she wrote the B backwards because she used a mirror.

[–] Cricket@lemmy.zip 4 points 1 day ago

I didn't remember that or hadn't heard of it, but someone in the comments of OP link provided this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ashley_Todd_mugging_hoax

[–] SereneSadie@lemmy.myserv.one 2 points 1 day ago

My first thought was body odour, so congrats on the self-burn to herself.

[–] givesomefucks@lemmy.world 61 points 2 days ago (2 children)

"The investigation revealed that Greene had not, in fact, been attacked by three men at gunpoint," the release states. "Instead, Greene had paid a body modification/scarification artist to deliberately cut the lacerations on her face, neck, upper chest, and shoulder, based on a pattern that she had provided beforehand.

[–] tehn00bi@lemmy.world 7 points 2 days ago

To be fair, the artist did good work.

[–] Hideakikarate@sh.itjust.works 16 points 2 days ago

That's some American Mary energy that Mary would bitch slap you for asking (not a horrible movie, imo. But I'm a simple movie enjoyer).

[–] Gates9@sh.itjust.works 13 points 2 days ago (1 children)
[–] chunkystyles@sopuli.xyz 9 points 2 days ago (1 children)

This will always be my favorite for just how silly it is.

"Trump whore" is stupid and out of touch, but it lacks the whimsy.

[–] A_norny_mousse@feddit.org 10 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Among the messages Marks left were "Kill Trump," "Bernie Sanders 2020," "Death to Trump," and "Left is best," the Hartford Courant reported.

"He admitted to doing the criminal act and said he regretted it," Lt. Rocheleau said. "He said the reason he did do it was to show support towards Trump by having the other side bash him, to show how the other side is basically crazy enough to go and write stuff on a school playground."

Harmless but so characteristic

[–] HarneyToker@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Dang, they’re so deep in their rabbit hole they are literally harming themselves and defacing their communities.

[–] Gates9@sh.itjust.works 5 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

This is why we don’t have any universal services in this country. They would rather literally destroy themselves than admit their bigoted political ideology is flawed.

[–] A_norny_mousse@feddit.org 1 points 1 day ago

"A MAGAt would eat shit just to breathe on a lib"

[–] Drusas@fedia.io 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

That is an entirely different story.

Yeah, they're referencing another fake incident from these losers.

[–] tornavish@lemmy.cafe 27 points 2 days ago

This is just how I think everyone in the Republican Party thinks and acts. Props for her going through with it. It takes guts to cut yourself and not get anything out of it!!

[–] A_norny_mousse@feddit.org 15 points 2 days ago

Let's be very clear, this is the type of people MAGA attracts.

I also wouldn't be surprised if she was encouraged by her superiors to do something like that.

[–] WhatGodIsMadeOf@feddit.org 3 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Politics is for psychopaths. Live for humanity.

Weird political message but that's your human right

[–] jared@mander.xyz 2 points 2 days ago

Humans are weird animals.

[–] FisherOfSaints@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

With an idiotic display of criminal fealty like that, I have to imagine her star is on the rise.

[–] Drusas@fedia.io 1 points 1 day ago

Depends on whether those lacerations get on the way of turning her face into a caricature of a person (Mar-a-Lago Face is so in right now).

Edit: I just saw some pictures. She's not going to be anyone's poster child any time soon, but cosmetic surgery is likely in her future.
