Could the OP not think of any reason this would be a bad thing other than China? Not the slave labor? Not the support for autocracies? Not the crimes against humanity? Fucking yanks man.

That said, I have no particular opinion on the China thing, let Trump destroy Western military supremacy; I'll happily watch.

[–] AgentOrangesicle@lemmy.world 8 points 1 hour ago (1 children)

*Other than China being able to reverse-engineer our military tech? I mean, they probably have our building schematics through other means, but isn't that the main faux pas?

[–] NoneOfUrBusiness@fedia.io 4 points 1 hour ago (1 children)

but isn't that the main faux pas?

No, that's the main faux pas if you're a US liberal with no care for human life that doesn't meet a property minimum or resides outside your borders, and not being that I don't give a shit about China getting access to US military tech. Arming Saudi Arabia is bad because Saudi Arabia is an autocratic imperialist slaver state.

[–] Lag@lemmy.world 3 points 30 minutes ago

I don't think anyone is arguing that governments are good, only that he should be in prison.

[–] BetaBlake@lemmy.world 1 points 2 minutes ago

Can't the Pentagon just NOT do it? Just fucking defy him, or sell them shit fake ones

[–] Formfiller@lemmy.world 8 points 1 hour ago

He’s committed treason daily for the last ten years. When are we going to do something about it?

[–] leftzero@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 13 minutes ago

this is treason

Add it to the pile...

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 12 points 1 hour ago (1 children)

remember KUSHNER got 2bn investment funds from the saudis? for giving nuclear secrets.

[–] Jessvj93@lemmy.world 2 points 1 hour ago* (last edited 53 minutes ago)

And also handing over information from US spies on dissidents, even if they were family that just opposed him, so Mohammed Bin Salman could trap them in a hotel and have them all tortured and murdered till there was enough alignment to him.

"The Intercept also reported that Kushner’s information on Saudi royals not loyal to MBS was contained in the President’s Daily Brief, a document presented to the President every morning. Kushner lost his access to the document earlier this year when new security clearance rules were instituted.

Eager to consolidate power and rein in the sprawling orbit of the Saudi royal family and aristocratic class, Prince bin Salman listened intently and a week later cracked down on corruption in the country by imprisoning more than 200 members of the country’s ruling class inside the confines of the Ritz-Carlton hotel in Riyadh, charging each with corruption"

[–] WanderWisley@lemmy.world 18 points 2 hours ago

Any other president would have been thrown in a cell, but for Donny and his cult it’s just normal business as usual.

[–] N0body@lemmy.dbzer0.com 39 points 3 hours ago

Taking a bribe to let China reverse engineer our next generation fighter jet should be the kind of thing that has consequences. That’s going to cost a lot of lives down the road if things go sideways.

[–] Flickerby@lemmy.zip 53 points 3 hours ago (4 children)

I think Saudi Arabia being, y'know, Saudi Arabia is bad enough without throwing in that "Chinese ally" thing lol.

[–] scarabic@lemmy.world 1 points 14 minutes ago

Kind of ironic too because as evil as they are, SA are absolutely an American ally as well.

[–] vzqq@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 points 19 minutes ago

You’d figure a bunch of racists that spent the last twenty years crying about shariah law would a few very specific problems with Saudi Arabia.

[–] carotte@lemmy.blahaj.zone 10 points 2 hours ago* (last edited 2 hours ago) (1 children)

monarchist nation build on slave labor, that murders political dissidents, queer people and indigenous groups? yea, that's probably bad or whatever idk, ~~i mean we did all that too and we're the good guys yknow~~

chinese ally???? now they've crossed a line!!!! 😡😡😡

[–] Flickerby@lemmy.zip 6 points 2 hours ago

You seem to have repeated yourself a little bit there. Minus the monarchy.

[–] justsomeguy@lemmy.world 12 points 2 hours ago

Sorry for calling again but could you please paint "DEATH TO AMERICA" on the jets? We got those new hangars and don't want to make them all smelly right away.

[–] ramble81@lemmy.zip 10 points 2 hours ago (4 children)

Aren’t the F-35s software and updates DRM’d to hell anyway? Thought I read somewhere that Lockheed Martin could remotely kill any F-35 at anytime. They’re the ultimate John Deer.

[–] kryptonianCodeMonkey@lemmy.world 15 points 2 hours ago (1 children)

No hardware or software that you have unfettered access to is un-crackable forever. If China has the will to crack it, they almost certainly have the means. It is only a matter of manhours.

[–] Jeremyward@lemmy.world 7 points 2 hours ago

If someone has physical access to a device its practically impossible to hide things from a dedicated attacker, especially a nation state actor.

You can read ram for instance straight from the traces rather than from the ram module.

[–] Lodespawn@aussie.zone 5 points 1 hour ago

If Lockheed Martin has kill codes for their F35s then China can reverse engineer those kill codes

[–] ohulancutash@feddit.uk 1 points 53 minutes ago

They can’t kill it any time. The software pbones home to verify licences periodically, and that can be used to brick the device. Of course, Israel is allowed to run their own software because reasons.

[–] InternetCitizen2@lemmy.world 1 points 1 hour ago

I don't think that's the case. Its just too big an oversight.

Still complex gear needs a supply chain, so getting on the bad side of the USA still grounds your air wing.

[–] Gudl@feddit.org 2 points 1 hour ago
[–] FlexibleToast@lemmy.world 17 points 3 hours ago

Wait, the insurrectionist would commit treason?

[–] mrcleanup@lemmy.world 3 points 1 hour ago (1 children)

Wasn't there something about the saudies being complicit in 911 or something?

[–] RidderSport@feddit.org 1 points 1 hour ago

Not really. Bin-Laden is a wealthy and well-connected Saudi family, but no link between the state and 911 has been made public

[–] TrickDacy@lemmy.world 40 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

Treason is legal when you're Trump.

[–] aeternum@lemmy.blahaj.zone 5 points 2 hours ago (2 children)

everything is legal when you're dumpy. EVERYTHING. Including rape.

[–] yakko@feddit.uk 4 points 1 hour ago

"L'Etat, c'est moi", but in the voice of a farting ketchup bottle

[–] JasonDJ@lemmy.zip 1 points 1 hour ago

Is it rape if "they let you do it"?

[–] Semi_Hemi_Demigod@lemmy.world 58 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

Yes the Trump is made of Trump

[–] Townlately@feddit.nl 14 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

The trumpberries taste like trumpberries!

I keep magnifying, but it's still Trump. It's Trumps all the way down.

[–] shadowedcross@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 hour ago

Treason comes to Trump as easily as lying does, so it shouldn't be surprising.

[–] Ghyste@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 hour ago

This is entirely expected.

[–] Mediocre_Bard@lemmy.world 12 points 3 hours ago (2 children)

Time was we would kill traitors. If this is treason, then we should kill him. One person is closer than anyone else to him right now. They could stop all of this.

[–] ohulancutash@feddit.uk 1 points 1 hour ago

Time was you would venerate traitors and call them “founding fathers”. Different strokes.

[–] AppleTea@lemmy.zip 10 points 2 hours ago

Nobody in US political leadership wants to set the precedent of facing legal consequences for their actions while in power.

[–] CovfefeKills@lemmy.world 0 points 1 hour ago (2 children)

Yet another nothing burger. Release the Esptien files.

[–] smiletolerantly@awful.systems 4 points 1 hour ago (1 children)

At some point, the Epstein files become the distraction. So much horrible shit has happened in this presidency already, with real consequences for innocent people.

So brushing every bit of that aside to just meme "Epstein files" over and over seems like a GREAT service to Trump.

Is he in those files? Oh, definitely. Will he be i n the released version? Probably not. So, what will you do? Keep screaming for the RealTM files all through this presidency, letting him off the hook for everything else because "muh files"?

[–] CovfefeKills@lemmy.world 1 points 53 minutes ago

At some point, the Epstein files become the distraction

Great point. But this is a nothing burger because it isn't corruption it is the export version of the F-35 specifically for shitty alleys this has been in the works since Biden. Israel already has the F-35i and is partners with China, SA is weak bitches that do what they are told. Also China already has the blueprints from espionage.

[–] JeeBaiChow@lemmy.world 1 points 1 hour ago

Yeah. Who cares? We saved gazaaaaaaa....!

/s you dumbfucks

https://apnews.com/article/f35-fighter-jet-saudis-trump-deal-299b47534e121923851e18fd02a57799

Appears there are a number of sources discussing it. It's strange being that Russia is currently selling them air defense systems as well.

And what will be done? Everyone in a position to do something is his toady or doing the same thing. This is the end game of individualism and capitalism.
