I know someone like this. A character will appear on screen for the first time shouting someone's name and she'll instantly ask "who are they looking for?". HOW TF AM I SUPPOSED TO KNOW???

Similar to riviera kid, I started getting bitchy. But my answers were like

"Who are they looking for?"

"Lord Chestingfield Von Constorto el Alaldrel katt Keller. Although he also goes by Lord Chestingfield von Constorto El Alaldrel Katt Steve and occasionally Anastasia Beaverhausen."

"What kind of stupid name is that?"

"One I made up for my Dungeons and Dragons game and another is from Will & Grace."

"Well why would you say that?"

"Why would you ask me a question about a movie we're both watching together for the first time? "

My partner used to do this shit with every show or movie we watched together. It stopped when I started being rude about it.

My partner - "Whos that?" Me - "Probably someone who can pay attention to a fucking movie."

I'm, not saying everyone should try it but I am saying it worked for me.

Yeah I've had to do the same. It sounds cruel but there are only so many times you can explain "I do not know. I am watching this at the same time as you" before you pop a blood vessel

Same, I'm not exactly proud of it but after the 300th time my patience got a little short.

My spouse expects me to be able to explain HOW something like that would be even possible, just because I understood the plot. We regularly have to pause movies to talk stuff through. Movie nights at our house are fun :D

I always answer back "I don't know yet, we are watching the same movie".
