Shouldn’t be removed in the first place, outside of medically necessary procedures.

The RNG gods have shown me a sign:

I can't believe circumcision is still practiced in some parts of the world.

[–] NotKyloRen@lemmy.zip 23 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago) (2 children)

And it's been the default here in the US, historically and culturally (for puritanical reasons originally, and now because it's "the norm"). Absolutely barbaric practice. "Yes, please mutilate my newborn baby because *checks notes* having a foreskin is unhygienic and looks weird compared to what I'm used to seeing in porn."

[–] Glytch@lemmy.world 5 points 5 days ago

"My parents mutilated me so I'll do the same to my newborn child because tradition"

[–] Aeri@lemmy.world 4 points 4 days ago

Something I consider extremely upsetting is the fact that just nobody gives a single solitary fuck in america? Like it's literally genital mutilation on a baby? But people will basically just brush you off if you try to bring up how fucked it is?

[–] victorz@lemmy.world 18 points 6 days ago (1 children)

It's brutal. I'm very lucky I wasn't. Both my younger half brothers are.

[–] some_kind_of_guy@lemmy.world 11 points 5 days ago (1 children)

My BIL had his son circumcized. When I asked him why (he's not at all religious) he couldn't come up with a reason.

[–] victorz@lemmy.world 2 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Absolutely insane. I hope he doesn't own a weapon.

Of all the organs, I cannot fathom why this is the one we decided we should remove bits of. Imagine if we had instead made a ritual of removing earlobes, no one would give a fuck.

[–] Tangent5280@lemmy.world 8 points 5 days ago

It desensitises the dick. Same reason for FGM. Beyond all of this, it is just a marker for tribal in-groups, a method of trust for converts into the religion, and a method of control.

[–] y0kai@lemmy.dbzer0.com 29 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Oh thank god I can finally stop wearing this dick toupee

Step 9 is where they surgically attach a zipper for those cold evenings 🥶

[–] Sunsofold@lemmings.world 6 points 5 days ago

It'd be more fun to restore someone else's foreskin, magically.

[–] SW42@lemmy.world 16 points 6 days ago

Thanks, i got used to Not having One since having surgery for phimosis when I was little. Good to know there’s an option for people who want to have it restored. Options are always good:)

[–] AlternateHuman02@lemmy.world 15 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Been doing this on and off for years, definitely works but the process is slow. Especially when you aren't consistent. I have thought about starting a community for it if anyone is interested.

[–] IAmNorRealTakeYourMeds@lemmy.world 7 points 6 days ago (1 children)

question. any difference in general?

like does sex feel better or the same?

[–] AlternateHuman02@lemmy.world 10 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Totally! Once you can get the stretched foreskin skin to stay over you glans regularly the glans skin starts to become more soft and sensitive from not rubbing on fabric.

Masturbation is more fun too since there is more skin to move around.

I am really enjoying the feeling. I think if I was consistent I would be fully restored in about two years from now, but I am not so I am giving myself five to be done fully.

I started this process when I was in my early 20s and would be done by now if I had just stuck with it.

thanks for the answer, very informative.

What's with the downvotes on the post and through the comments? Is lemmy more prudey than I thought or am I missing something here?

[–] chuckleslord@lemmy.world 16 points 6 days ago (1 children)

I mean, it's not really an accurate title. What was cut off can't be restored. Sure, you can stretch the skin to be something like a foreskin, but it doesn't have the nerve endings that were removed.

[–] 0ops@piefed.zip 13 points 6 days ago (2 children)

It's the commonly used term, op didn't make it up for this post, that's just what people call it. The wikipedia article he linked uses the term in the title. I personally learned about this at r/foreskinrestoration. Besides, who's gonna downvote over semantics? My bet is still on prudes.

i know this is a thing, but i really don't understand the why. like, is it an aesthetics thing? is it something done as a sort quiet protest against the practice of circumcision as a whole? something else?

[–] PlutoniumAcid@lemmy.world 37 points 6 days ago

Circumcision is abuse. Only rarely is it a medically sane practice. The glans basically becomes calloused, why would anyone want that?

Foreskin restoration is a way to return to a more normal state, with a softer and more sensitive glans. That is the reason people want to restore.

[–] Seleni@lemmy.world 8 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago)

Circumcision removes a lot of the sensitive tissue, making it harder for a man to climax, especially while masturbating.

It’s done primarily by religious loons to ‘keep men from committing sin’, since they believe the only way a man should ever climax is during penetrative sex with a woman. But even then a circumcised man will feel less pleasure than an uncircumcised one.

So this is primarily done to get some of the feeling back, both to be able to masturbate easier and to have greater pleasure during sex.

Jacking off without needing lube

[–] Rolder@reddthat.com 15 points 6 days ago

I don’t know about other people but I go dry 99% of the time and it’s fine.

[–] Aganim@lemmy.world 14 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Is that really a thing? I've been circumcised when I was young because of medical reasons, I've never needed lube for a wank.

[–] TwoBeeSan@lemmy.world 4 points 6 days ago

Same. Maybe I just have a ton of pre cum

I'm circumcised and I've never needs lube to wank. circumcision is bad regardless, but I'm not sure that lubless wanking is a problem.

[–] noxypaws@pawb.social 2 points 5 days ago (1 children)

I'm circumcised and I don't understand why I would ever need lube to jack off. Where did you get that idea?

[–] pixeltree@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 4 days ago (1 children)

You're not working the head enough bro, gotta work on your technique

(Lemmy seriousness disclaimer: this is a joke)

[–] noxypaws@pawb.social 2 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Good disclaimer, I was gonna be all indignant about how the hell you know anything about my fapnique

[–] pixeltree@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Hahaha lemmy has a tendency to take things too seriously I think

[–] noxypaws@pawb.social 2 points 2 days ago

Those penises look funny in their various apparatuses.

Personality I would rather have the opposite (bottom surgery) :3

[–] HenriVolney@sh.itjust.works 9 points 6 days ago

TIL, thanks

[–] Goretantath@lemmy.world 6 points 6 days ago (2 children)

Do you still get the extra nerve endings that the original provided?

[–] irelephant@lemmy.dbzer0.com 7 points 5 days ago

No, but you do regain a lot of sensitivity and your glans becomes less calloused.

According to the Reddit threads at least. I still have the foreskin I was born with.

[–] PlutoniumAcid@lemmy.world 8 points 6 days ago

Nerves don't grow back, but the glans becomes more sensitive as the calloused skin heals.

[–] grandcthulhu@lemmy.world 6 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Husband restored his over the course of a year. Can confirm, it does work.. to an extent. One caveat is that he has to wear a retainer day and night, as the stretched skin doesn’t cover the head unless pulled into place with the retainer.

[–] PlutoniumAcid@lemmy.world 10 points 6 days ago

It will take a few more years but he will get there. Tell him I salute him for his perseverance!
