Comic Books

A place to discuss comic books of all types, from old to new, Big 2 to indie, and everything in between.

Floppies, graphic novels, compilations, omnibusses (omnibusi?) are all fair game.

There is only one rule:*

Comic Books is a no judgement zone.

You can talk all you want about how Rob Liefeld is trash, Bob Kane is an asshole, or Frank Miller and Dave Sim’s politics have made them toxic, that’s all good.

If, however, another user is LEGITIMATELY a fan of something you don’t like, that does NOT make them a lesser person. Attack the art for being bad, not the person for being a fan of bad art.

* I lied. There are TWO rules... No piracy. Cover shots? That's good. Interior pages, in moderation? Sure. Full books? Links to pirate sites? That's how we get things shut down. :(

I'm not saying it's been a problem, because it hasn't been.

MODERATORS

Daniel Warren Johnson is a fucking genius and I love him, never thought I'd live to see Batman break some dude's arm while they're doing the mustache man salute and then literally hit an One-Winged Angel on a corrupt cop and turn his head and spine into silly putty. Hope Chuck Dixon had an aneurysm from this, lol!

Issue is Absolute Batman Annual #1.

I mean fuck yeah, but at the same time "Batman doesn't kill" is blaring in my mind while Batman slams the cop head/neck first into the concrete.

Those people are fucking dead.

This comic is essentially the origin of his no-kill rule in the Absolute Universe!

spoilerLater on the comic, a priest that had saved him from those same white supremacists earlier comes to give first aid to them, and Batman asks him "why", and he responds with "It's just my way. You have yours". The thing is, this priest was good friends with Bruce's father, and he even protested for peace alongside him in various anti-war protests, and Bruce is like "well I don't think pops would like me killing people" while reflecting. I do think Bruce was going through Killer's Remorse there, which pretty much cemented his idea to never kill anyone again. Altho, as we see in the regular run, I don't think his pops said anything about not putting people in the ICU...

I mean to be fair, he absolutely wrecks dudes in the Arkham games.

I still think this is his most fucking unnecessarily violent knockout he had on Arkham City lol. Like, man, you just used that woman as a lockpick AND THEN gave her a left orbital bone fracture and 35 concussions, you did not have to violate shawty like that 😭😭

I feel like when I was growing, being taught that violence isn't the answer, can't really solve things... everyone still agreed it was ok to kick a nazi in the teeth though (it was often mentioned at some point in moral/ethical discussion, in my neck of the woods anyway).

I miss that.

If liberals did even 1% of what this fictional billionaire does “for his community.”

The funny thing is that this version of Batman is actually broke, he's a civil engineer LMAO. It's how he gets around Gotham completely inconspicuously, he travels through a huge network of underground tunnels.

[–] AntiBullyRanger@ani.social 5 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (1 children)

So he’s Rorschach in this version huh.
Damn I wish I had a civil engineer beating fascists in my archipelago right about now.

I’m aware Americans are hopeless fucks though.

Assuming you are Japanese from your comment history... You have Mechanical Violator Hakaider, and the tin man is, indeed, EXTREMELY BASED. I too wish I had a robot man in my country violating fascists.
