It's reasonable and has good charges but I can't recommend it because it's based In the US and the only payment option I could use was PayPal and I don't use PayPal anymore because I don't support fascism.

But its an online webservice, not a piece of locally run open source software. There is no way to know what they do with the data you give them. You can hope that they dont sell it, but you will never know if they do.

A lot of manga translators have switched away from using it, for what that information is worth.

Not 100% sure. Some state they have gotten banned from the platform, presumably for breaking TOS due to funding "illegal projects". I won't make a statement on whether these bans are deserved or not, but if you are wanting privacy for yourself and your projects then this platform is probably not the way to go.
