I don't I'm fucking stuck here
Outside of the government it's actually quite nice. The weather, the neighbors, the vast amount of cuisine and music, movies and TV shows, and some high quality musical theater.
There's many actual, genuine reasons that America is still a nice place to live. It's the right wing authoritarians that have a temporary shelf life with which we have to endure. It's been less than a year and Trump is losing control - Epstein is the biggest ghost but the absolute lack of success for ICE (outside of some headlines they are getting stymied by communities in every city, a decentralized and intangible force that is virtually immune to infiltration because it is made of neighbors who know each other for years), the worst economy in American history since Hoover, and the constant assault on the business class that bought his election on the first place.
He has mad everyone so angry that the midterms are basically forced to happen and the GOP has to watch. That's why they are trying SO HARD to get people to fight back - yet no one falls for it. Even the worst "gang areas" are actually so safe there are no shots at ICE. The pressure campaign to instigate martial law is falling apart. Trump is cooked.

Thanks for the thoughtful reply. i genuinely fear that you are naive if you think the midterm elections will achieve anything. A republican bought the voting machine company used in I think 37 states. The gerrymandering is making it impossible for anyone other than republicans to win . The elimination of voter rights and mail in voting is eliminating most of those pesky voters they dont like and finally, over 40% of voters wont bother so only the extremist voted will count.
Trump said during the election that if you voted for him, you’d never have to vote again. People poo-poo his comments but pretty much everything he said he’d do he’s done or is doing. So on this one I believe him.
I think the midterms will be a Putinesque election where 98.7% of the vote goes to the dear leader.

Apathy breeds fascism. When you roll over and accept it, they win; that's their playbook, they want you to feel like it's inevitable.
But it isn't - all it takes is ⅔ of the population to stop fucking around.
