Gardening is nice because I can scale it down quite a lot (at least where I live) and when I forget to water or fertilize I'm "encouraging resilience" in my plants.

Hobbies ain't cheap, I can't just start a new one every time I'm bored with the old one.

Many hobbies don’t require much to start! Gardening requires an investment of some 20$ and a decade of your life

Why would I choose cheap boring ones though, also, you're not my hobby allocator. My constant need for novelty and complete lack of discipline are.

Gardening can cost zero money.

Pot: an empty can, joghurt package, cut off plastic bottle

Dirt: go outside and scoop some up, people who make their own compost often give some away

Seeds: fruit and vegetables from the supermarket often include free seeds (e. g. bell peppers)

People also give away plants and cuttings all the time.

You will need a spot that gets some sunlight though.

Wish someone had told me that before I bought a plane. My new hobby is aviation

Could have been worse. Could have been Warhammer

My hobby is collecting hobbies.

I desperately want to start actively practicing flute again. And to actually perform gong fu tea again and learn to make good tea with the method. Neither is boring, and great leaps of progress could be had with so little effort, but I'm just "done" with them.

Why is the nervous backwards on the cap after the first one?

[–] Stamets@lemmy.dbzer0.com 7 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)
