Am I the only one who doesn’t really think of Club, Penguin, and similar as biscuits?

Sure, there’s biscuit in there, but they’re clearly not in the same category as digestives, hobnobs, or rich teas.

I think once you completely enrobe a biscuit in chocolate, it becomes a chocolate bar.

I would agree with you. They are a lunchbox treat, not a biscuit per se.

This is a good question.

Where do you stand on a "Fox's Chocolatey Milk Chocolate Round"?

It's fully enrobed in chocolate, but its pack layout (loose in a pack, not individually wrapped), shareability and dunkability says "I am a biscuit".

It does, however, lounge in twos or threes inside a plastic tray inside its packet, rather than the Digestive/Hobnobs who simply accept that they will sit directly on top of one another, all the way down.

Is it in its own category as "fancy biscuits"?

(I'm sure some biscuit VAT man has already been through all of this, after the Jaffa Cake tax issue)

A good response, and an excellent example of how difficult it is to create a truly robust taxonomy, and how futile it often is to try to pigeonhole a diverse range of options.

But this is the internet, so for the sake of argument I will arbitrarily declare that they are chocolate bars masquerading as biscuits.

That seems pretty reasonable. I'm going to go with calling them "barscuits" for now.

I love a mint Club but I’ll pass on that.

This is good. Cocoa is pure slave labour harvest 99% of the time.

Is nothing sacred?

You'd better not touch marmite!

Inevitable. Can you make the ends thicker again then even if it isn't really chocolate. Oh and bring the raisin one back.
