Showerthoughts

A "Showerthought" is a simple term used to describe the thoughts that pop into your head while you're doing everyday things like taking a shower, driving, or just daydreaming. The most popular seem to be lighthearted clever little truths, hidden in daily life.

Here are some examples to inspire your own showerthoughts:

Rules

  1. All posts must be showerthoughts
  2. The entire showerthought must be in the title
  3. No politics
    • If your topic is in a grey area, please phrase it to emphasize the fascinating aspects, not the dramatic aspects. You can do this by avoiding overly politicized terms such as "capitalism" and "communism". If you must make comparisons, you can say something is different without saying something is better/worse.
    • A good place for politics is c/politicaldiscussion
  4. Posts must be original/unique
  5. Adhere to Lemmy's Code of Conduct and the TOS

If you made it this far, showerthoughts is accepting new mods. This community is generally tame so its not a lot of work, but having a few more mods would help reports get addressed a little sooner.

Whats it like to be a mod? Reports just show up as messages in your Lemmy inbox, and if a different mod has already addressed the report, the message goes away and you never worry about it.

A reminder that Rule 3 is no politics. Obviously there is grey area in the rule. This post avoids being rage bait and no one has reported it yet.

Appreciate the Considered Moderation.

I did aim for that grey zone, commenting on the situation rather than the politics itself.

And just like Deus Ex: None of your choices up to that point mattered and the choice is made by one white guy.

Did you know JC can be played as a range of skin colors?

US presidency: did you know this roll can be played by a range of skin colors? But yes, the default is white.

Isn't his brother also white?

His brother changes depending on what you choose so that they match.

There were also plans for you to pick your gender as well, which were axed when they ran out of time. There's a great fem Denton mod though.

That's actually pretty cool and I did not know. Also, I see people did not like my US presidency joke. Should have added the /s...

Hey, I'm from the 20th century. It was a cataclysmic hundred years, not some kind of stable condition that could be restored. The prosperity of its last few decades was fuelled by burning the furniture made by the labour movement, and we're almost out of fuel.

One might say that's a subtext to the meme

It's almost like the writers were smart people who were able to notice the world around them.

I don't know if there is another path at this point, one that doesn't depend on all the fascists and capitalists to have a change of heart...

The AI people are just the capitalism people in disguise

Brutal.

I can't imagine police violence like that ever happening in America
