This is a community for discussion, news, and memes pertaining to the video game sub-genre "soulslike".
Given Lemmy's size, the definition of soulslike may be treated relatively loosely. While games like the numerous FromSoft titles, the recent Star Wars Jedi games, Lies of P, Nioh and similar games should be the focus, games that incorporate soulslike elements - like Hollow Knight and Blasphemous, for example - may also be discussed here.
Basic Lemmy-quette applies. Additionally, since flairs don't exist yet, please do make sure to include a marker to denote what game your post is about in square brackets for clarity's sake. An example could be:
[BB] This enemy is so difficult!
or
[DS1] Anyone struggling with the gargoyles?

It took me three weeks of hauling rocks up and down a mountainside for 16 hours a day before I developed the upper body strength to be able to swing this behemoth of a sword.
My blacksmith, Battai says he can't and doesn't want to sharpen it because "it doesn't matter for effectiveness" anyway.
He said: "This is an executioner's sword. It doesn't do so much cutting damage as it does blunt, and by blunt, I mean it separates out limbs"
The first person who tried to parry the heavy strike in PvP learned the hard way:
You can't parry an ultra greatsword.
Love or hate the UGS, it's a way of life
My first try at DS2, I thought I'd be cool and use a dagger or something, idk, idc. My second try, I learned how it was meant to be played, and that's with an ultra greatsword.
Strange uchigatanas you have there.
I found the Irithyll Straight Sword to be perfect for me on DS3, to the point that it's difficult to stick with other weapons that aren't my Goldilocks for attack speed, physical range, damage scaling, stamina usage, blocking strength and elemental damage.
Zwei>claymore
Both are good though. I think 8 prefer the gravekeeper sword 9 over claymore in DS1. Unless you want specific elemental damage.
Hmm, claymore R2 thrust is GOAT though.
Is it the forward poke? Been a while since I've used it.
Yup! Vs Zweihander / bastard sword's overhead smash.
Okay. The poke is pretty good.
What swords are those?
Claymores! (from ds1, 2, and 3)
Ol' Reliable swords
