I'm embarrassed to admit I know most lyrics to the songs on Significant Other. I haven't listened to the album in 15 years.
I'm not embarrassed to admit that early LB had some pretty great songs. Fred Durst was embarrassing, but some of the tracks are absolutely tenderloin of turn-of-the-millenium numetal.
While the(ir) genre wad never the focal point of my musical tastes, they were close enough that I can enjoy some of the classics. Except Rollin', I always hated that one for some reason.
You're not wrong. I think it's more that my music tastes have shifted drastically since then. I was all in on corny numetal at that time. Wes Borland was super creative on some LB stuff and is the main reason they still hold up at all IMO.
Fred durst was a douche, but they made some really good songs at just the right time. I really wish we still had people making angry music that wasn't just shitty death metal. We need a new rage against the machine. Run the jewels is good but not spicy enough.
