You responded to a 5 month old post and said it's fine to shame men for not falling for toxic masculinity, using a gendered insult in the process. Your single comment was removed, and you decided this was a power trip worthy of posting here within the hour. YDI
Ye Power Trippin' Bastards
This is a community in the spirit of "Am I The Asshole" where people can post their own bans from lemmy or reddit or whatever and get some feedback from others whether the ban was justified or not.
Sometimes one just wants to be able to challenge the arguments some mod made and this could be the place for that.
Posting Guidelines
All posts should follow this basic structure:
- Which mods/admins were being Power Tripping Bastards?
- What sanction did they impose (e.g. community ban, instance ban, removed comment)?
- Provide a screenshot of the relevant modlog entry (don’t de-obfuscate mod names).
- Provide a screenshot and explanation of the cause of the sanction (e.g. the post/comment that was removed, or got you banned).
- Explain why you think its unfair and how you would like the situation to be remedied.
Rules
- Post only about bans or other sanctions that you have received from a mod or admin.
- Don’t use private communications to prove your point. We can’t verify them and they can be faked easily.
- Don’t deobfuscate mod names from the modlog with admin powers.
- Don’t harass mods or brigade comms. Don’t word your posts in a way that would trigger such harassment and brigades.
- Do not downvote posts if you think they deserved it. Use the comment votes (see below) for that.
- You can post about power trippin’ in any social media, not just lemmy. Feel free to post about reddit or a forum etc.
- If you are the accused PTB, while you are welcome to respond, please do so within the relevant post.
Expect to receive feedback about your posts, they might even be negative.
Make sure you follow this instance's code of conduct. In other words we won't allow bellyaching about being sanctioned for hate speech or bigotry.
YTPB matrix channel: For real-time discussions about bastards or to appeal mod actions in YPTB itself.
Some acronyms you might see.
- PTB - Power-Tripping Bastard: The commenter agrees with you this was a PTB mod.
- YDI - You Deserved It: The commenter thinks you deserved that mod action.
- YDM new - You Deserved More: The commenter thinks you got off too lightly.
- BPR - Bait-Provoked Reaction: That mod probably overreacted in charged situation, or due to being baited.
- CLM - Clueless Mod: The mod probably just doesn't understand how their software works.

Take the L mate. You talked shit and faced consequences.
Hmm, why don't you look for something useful to do if performance is important to you? Not to be mean or anything, but I think this isn't cutting it.
Yeah you are correct, i should not explore social media aimlessly
Hit the gym bro, 🤡
Or just use it as an opportunity to learn something, whatever it is. I think talking to people online is fine. You just gotta be aware of the circumstances and think about what you're trying to achieve, every now and then.
Yes I agree... I don't understand anti online sentiment by people online lol
Fedi as far as social media goes is the best since you are talking to actual people about topics that provide some educational value
Jerking corporate social media where you are being fed corporate sloop and regime propaganda... Obviously that different
Well, yes it's ingrained misogyny, and it's also ingrained into modern language. The mod can't expect to force people to stop using a word they personally disagree with, especially if it's normalised in the speaker's world. Censorship of basic speech and expression is the reason some of us left Reddit ffs
Edit: Read your comment. Your whole comment reads like a poor attempt at an argument which never existed.
- Emotions are part of humanity and creatures with autonomy, to unconditionally stifle emotions is to reject the idea that you exist in any meaningful way.
- No, it is never "right to shame others".
- You've perceived a decreased performance in what way?
Sorry to check you like this, but some of the things you've stated don't entirely align with my worldview. I am of the belief that all beings are valid and deserve, at the most basic level, a free life and general comfort. Ridiculing someone can negatively impact this, and as modern life is already hostile to the vast majority, being nice to folk is the least we can do.
Pussy word is used for men who ~~lacks daring in reasonable situations~~ do not measure up to the rapey, violent and/or generally vile standards of toxic masculine behaviour.
FTFY.
You all are just making up shit to be mad about now. Bro, if ya call people negative names, good chance you get banned. From lots of communities. How about you just make your point without name calling?
Try calling your boss a pussy. Then try telling that boss that you don't see it as a bad word. See what happens.
I'm not against calling people names. In fact, I love calling people pussies when I get pissed off. But I wouldn't fall over in shock if some mod removed me for it. And I wouldn't look into the history of the insult and try to find out why it's not insulting. Language use is fluid. Lots of things are insults for weird reasons.
Now you're using this community to try to redefine insult words?!
YDI
You'll find the same attitude from the mods in this community.
I think it's a common attitude among decent people everywhere.
Yeah, those who use them can't be decent people. Its only one criteria in our cult
Well yeah, sexism is bad.
Performative actions benefit no one.
I think its funny how the word cunt is like asshole whereas pussy is like coward. I can't think of any other part of the anatomy with such versatility.
Censoring speech because of choice of words... That's pretty standard and well documented on here tbh
You are going to speak however mods like or you won't speak.
That's how moderation on any platform works and has worked, yeah. Or do you suppose people have a fundamental right to start talking about how awesome Hitler was and how his ideas were actually pretty good and how we should replicate them in a modern context?
Libertarian freedom of speech is such an embodiment of "tolerating intolerance," and it can fuck right off. Refusing to learn to talk kindly doesn't make you a hero, it makes you an asshole.
Nice job to tie Hitler in 🤡
Not my problem you don't like what you see in the mirror.
