It's just smart transcription? That sounds like something that could be run locally without needing to offload to cloud, keeping the utility of it but reducing privacy concerns. As far as a medical devices go, I'd imagine getting enough processing power to run it locally wouldn't even be that expensive.

Seems like something that could be handled by Dragon Dictate

Maybe it's live transcription? Summarising what's discussed in real time? As far as I'm aware Dragon would only be able to record verbatim still requiring the clinician to go back and significantly edit.

Skimming the article, it seems that most of the parties involved are treating the sensitive data with the seriousness it deserves. And that's refreshing to see (even in an industry where privacy is expected).

But I'd much rather it stay offline, because at the end of the day sensitive information is a magnet for hacking operations, and if they can gain control of the systems, then it doesn't really matter if the company tries to do the right thing.

As a side note, audio analysis is a great use for AI technology, my issue is with how data is processed and stored.

Sometimes I wonder if people shared more on Facebook/TikTok/X that could give a diagnosis than what they did with their doctor.

ie Are doctors the number one vector for privacy/identity issues on a threat/harm basis?
