Fuck Cuomo and honestly fuck the Democratic leadership to and fuck Democrats in general.

Blue no matter who right? You bunch of hypocritical assholes on par with Republicans.

[–] ameancow@lemmy.world 8 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (2 children)

Yes, Dems have to get flushed, but other than that, this is fantastic news, this is another hubristic blunder by narcissistic political demagogues.

This will guarantee some level of split vote from the people that were going to vote for Adams again or some Republican challenger, whoever that was going to be. And there will be a lot of brainwashed median voters who have no clue what's going on just hear the facebook warnings that Mamdani is going to enact Turbo Gay Muslim Socialism that will force everyone to stand in breadlines to get their gay muslim rations.

Failed at being governor, and now he wants to tank the duly elected mayoral nominee for the Democratic party by attempting to split the liberal voting block in NYC. Meanwhile, Trump's buddy corrupt Eric Adams is doing exactly the same as a favor to his buddy in the White House.

There needs to be a poster on every street corner in NYC explaining this.

Preferably with pictures of both Cuomo and Adams photoshopped into the clowns they are.

[–] bytesonbike@discuss.online 17 points 2 days ago

Reminds me of Jill Stein running in 2024.

They're getting money to cause chaos because why not?

[–] ChaoticEntropy@feddit.uk 46 points 2 days ago (1 children)

So no rallying behind the candidate then, eh?

What a shocker.

[–] nomy@lemmy.zip 8 points 2 days ago (1 children)

No no we're supposed to rally behind their candidates.

I suppose he figures inappropriate behaviour sort of specially qualifies him for public office now.

[–] EtAl_isGitch@lemmy.world 18 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Vote blue no matter who, no not like that...

[–] finitebanjo@lemmy.world 9 points 2 days ago

Yes exactly fucking like that.

Vote Blue, Vote Mamdani.

Remember kids: Vote blue no matter who only applies to progressives.

Want to run a campaign against the duly nominated candidate?

Only if you’re a neoliberal sex pest. Otherwise you want republicans to win.

[–] bjorney@lemmy.ca 51 points 3 days ago (1 children)

For a second I had this confused with the Toronto mayoral election, where the former sex pest mayor is rumored to be considering re-running against the person who supplanted him last election

DNC normally: "3rd parties don't function in our two party system, there's no point in voting for them"

DNC after losing their own primary: 3rd party it is

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 4 points 1 day ago

The DNC would rather have a MAGA win it than Zohran.

[–] Ensign_Crab@lemmy.world 52 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago) (4 children)

"Vote Blue No Matter Who" reverts to "Party Unity My Ass" as soon as centrists don't get 100% of everything they want.

This screams "I am corrupt as fuuuuuuuck!!!" so hard....like that time that Bob Dole got Elizabeth Dole elected from a state she didnt live in so he could get lobbyist access again after losing the Presidential election.

[–] UncleJesus@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago

He isn't running to win. He's running to ensure Mamdani loses.

Vote blue no matter who only applies to democratic elitists.

[–] DarkFuture@lemmy.world 21 points 2 days ago

This guy is a form of cancer.

[–] frezik@lemmy.blahaj.zone 165 points 3 days ago (3 children)

The general election won't have ranked choice. Adams and Cuomo may end up splitting the "willing to vote for corrupt dirtbag" ticket and let Mamdani cruise to victory.

We can dream.

[–] givesomefucks@lemmy.world 42 points 3 days ago

Yep, two shit bag neoliberals running I and an actual Republican.

This is both good for Mamdani and what will be used as an excuse when he wins.

He is a spiteful little ball sack.

[–] ileftreddit@piefed.social 73 points 3 days ago

If Mamdani holds out until November, the rest of the country will see that it is possible to vote for a fair shake. If he gets buried, I think voting will be the least of our worries.

[–] Aceticon@lemmy.dbzer0.com 23 points 2 days ago

So, he's going to divide the Rightwing vote.

[–] DeathByBigSad@sh.itjust.works 11 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (1 children)

Great, I hope Sexual Predator Cuomo, Crooked Cop Adams, and Xenophobic Vigilante Sliwa continues their campaign so they split the idiot votes.

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 2 points 1 day ago

This is it. In a normal Dem/MAGA election, a single spoiler can make a huge difference, but in this case, we have one actual candidate, and three spoilers. None of them are a viable candidate. It's likely that the moron vote will all get split by Cuomo, Adams, and Sliwa, leaving anyone with half a brain to vote for Zohran.

[–] Buddahriffic@lemmy.world 8 points 2 days ago

Hope lots of people keep asking him about why covid patients kept getting sent to nursing homes that were not prepared to care for them back in 2020. He was looking so good with those daily updates until it became clear they were avoiding or downplaying that question.

[–] AI_toothbrush@lemmy.zip 18 points 2 days ago

He can be the third party where his wife and me are having sex and hes the cuck

[–] berno@lemmy.world 10 points 2 days ago (2 children)

VoTe BlUe No MaTtEr WhO!! 🙄

[–] gabbath@lemmy.world 10 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Yes. Cuomo is running as an independent, so you should definitely vote Mamdani, the winner of the Democratic primary.

you think cuomo will split the vote for zohran? he's probably gonna screw over eric adams by running independent

[–] Mammal@lemmy.world 50 points 3 days ago (66 children)

To be fair: The Democratic Party isn't a viable political engine for positive social change or a working-class agenda. If Cuomo wins it will be yet another example of how untrustworthy, hypocritical, and vapid Blue No Matter Who voting habits are.

The Democratic Party WILL rig the general election. Hell, they’ll probably work with Republicans to get their candidate in over Mamdani.

Who owns the machines? Is the software audited? Are there tabulation servers involved?

[–] CmdrShepard49@sh.itjust.works 30 points 3 days ago (2 children)

I don't know if they'll rig the actual vote directly but the DNC will most certainly spend hundreds of millions to make him look like the devil incarnate leading up to the election even if it means getting a Republican in office. They already did this in 2016 and 2024.

[–] theunknownmuncher@lemmy.world 45 points 3 days ago

"Vote blue no matter who" for me but not for thee

[–] k0e3@lemmy.ca 13 points 2 days ago (3 children)

Could someone explain what's happening to a non-american? I was under the impression that this Madmani gentleman had already won the mayoral race. Are they having another election for something else??

[–] Alaik@lemmy.zip 58 points 2 days ago (7 children)

We have elections over who will be the candidate for each party called Primaries. Mamdani won the primary for the democratic party.

Cuomo is now saying that although he lost to Mamdani in the primary, he's going to run independent of parties.

This is pissing people off for a few reasons.

One of the biggest reasons though, we've had years where we were told to, "Vote Blue No Matter Who" because undeniably the republicans are worse. Now that an actual leftist won their primary though, Cuomo (a long time democrat) is now spoiling the vote by running independently.

This is following a billionare stating he'll give millions to anyone who has a shot of beating Mamdani.

It definitely appears Cuomo would rather have a republican win than to let a leftist win.

Mamdani won the primary election. In the US parties don't choose their candidates for elections (in b4 "but superdelegates!") like you see in other electoral systems where an internal party committee selects a candidate list. So this election was determining who was going to be the Democratic candidate for the actual election.

But New York has some weird fusion laws that allow people to run on multiple party lines so Cuomo, even though he lost the Democratic nomination, can still run in the general election.
