That's what fascism always is. Hitler's cabinet was full of drunks, addicts, incompetents, and genuine crazy people. People who think fascists were ever competent just fell for the marketing.

[–] Semi_Hemi_Demigod@lemmy.world 10 points 5 hours ago

I blame the History Channel. It made the Nazis look competent and smart.

They’re always like “OMG look at this rocket plane!” without mentioning that it never saw combat but did chemically dissolve several pilots and ground crew.

Big insult chains like that only hit home for me if each one adds a new dimension or sense to the insult. This is just saying stupid stupid stupid stupid stupid stupid stupid stupid stupid over and over again. Reminds me of le epic reddit insults like "fuckwaffle" or whatever the hell it was. I hate conservatives and fascism as much as anyone, but it's tiring to see such circlejerky posts that basically just say "conservatives dumb, upvote below". I don't need my opinion circlejerked, I'm already convinced of it without some random man telling me it's true. And there's nothing cathartic about reading this either because of how try-hard the insult sounds. Bleh.

MAGA - Morons And Genuine Assholes

[–] stinky@redlemmy.com 1 points 5 hours ago

Everyone is desperate for a win. Conservatives are hurting, and they need to be validated. Trump gives them that. They would blindly worship anyone who gave them that validation.

Usually we just say, republican, it's shorter.

I'm sorry that the education system failed to inform you of this, but that's what fascism is. Sensical fascism is utterly oxymoronic. It's dumb as hell in every iteration because it's a bunch of idiots whipping each other into a hate mob and turning that hate mob built on a system of "yes and" into a police state

Yeah. People said 100% the same thing about Hitler. He was a clown, he was the weird guy that came to fundraisers and scarfed all the food because he didn’t have any money, and scared away donors and political allies because he would get in their face yelling about Jews. Until, all of a sudden, his big opponents got sent to the camps or just killed, and it wasn’t funny.

They’re doing a great job at following the playbook so far. People are upset but no one’s really done that much to stop them, which means it will continue and get worse.

Yeah Hitler, mussolini, Oswald Moseley, Trump, the lot of them are all lying, stupid boors. Crass and unlikable. And when institutions have failed to serve the common people and have lost the trust of the common people your ordinary and everyday jackass begins to think these people are telling it like it is and goosesteps along behind like hateful dumb ass duckling.

The SS were not ubermensch, they were basically the golden one with guns. Mussolini managed to make the trains run less on time. Nazi science was hindered because it was subject to the beliefs of the party. And also a lot of the best scientists of the Weimar republic and pre fascist Italy were either Jewish or close to jews such as the great Enrico Fermi who fled Italy because his wife was Jewish and he then proceeded to work on the Manhattan project.

Then as now they managed to keep the left and center fighting each other over actual attempts to govern as they just declared those attempts ineffective and communist and that their attempts were much better and always worked, reality be damned.

It's the one thing I never really understood when I read about it in history classes. The blatant hypocrisy, particularly how fascism is obsessed with "strong men" while worshipping the whiniest manchildren. It seemed important because it was a top comment by people who lived through it, but I never understood it until Trump.

I have no problem with insulting fascists, bootlickers and other vermin, but a lot of that "inbred ... chaw spitting ... mullet-wearing six-toed cross-eyed cousin-fucking" stuff doesn't feel right to me.

Maybe it feels elitist? Like the way he says 'this is a particularly stupid version of fascism' is by describing it with images that conjure up stereotypes used against the rural working class. Like you could add the word "peasant" and it wouldn't look out of place.

[–] octopus_ink@slrpnk.net 3 points 8 hours ago

You've got a fair point there.

[–] CorruptCheesecake@lemmy.world 6 points 14 hours ago* (last edited 13 hours ago) (1 children)

Every mullet wearing, pickup truck driving, redneck looking piece of shit I've come across so far has been an insufferable irredeemable cultist prick loser. If I ever meet a nice one I'll check to make sure I'm actually awake and not dreaming.

[–] ProdigalFrog@slrpnk.net 11 points 12 hours ago* (last edited 12 hours ago) (1 children)

One of the reporters for More Perfect Union, a leftist pro-union organizatiom is from west Virginia and wears a mullet.

If they were smart, they would realize conservatism's solutions (eg: hurt the queers, blacks, etc) won't actually solve their problems.

[–] CorruptCheesecake@lemmy.world 3 points 14 hours ago

If they were capable of learning they would've finished high school.

[–] Pratai@lemmy.world 5 points 12 hours ago

Well, that’s putting it mildly.

[–] CorruptCheesecake@lemmy.world 8 points 14 hours ago (1 children)

But they're goddamn geniuses in their delusional hick minds, and no amount of evidence to the contrary will ever get in the way of their smug sense of superiority.

[–] huppakee@feddit.nl 1 points 10 hours ago

they're goddamn geniuses in their delusional hick minds

I still haven't decided on whether they truly believe that or whether they only act like it because being honest would be unloyal and therefor not useful. Look at how Musk switched from his opinion from 'Trump is a genius' to 'Trump is a moron'

[–] MisterOwl@lemmy.world 8 points 15 hours ago (2 children)

For some reason I heard this in Clark Griswold's voice.

[–] fartographer@lemmy.world 4 points 14 hours ago

Funny since he's one of them

[–] Lawnman23@lemmy.world 4 points 14 hours ago

Where’s the Tylenol?

[–] harbard@fedia.io 5 points 15 hours ago

This is near perfectly said.

[–] Deceptichum@quokk.au 2 points 13 hours ago* (last edited 13 hours ago)

Who cares? It’s not like some imaginary fancy fascism is any more preferable.

A rooms on fire and you’re annoyed it started from a cigarette butt instead of from the power point. Its irrelevant, focus on the fire not the aesthetic.

is this recent?

oh man, I used to interact and follow stonekettle, he is always full of vitriol
