Im surprised they didn't call for the banning of escooters, that's the usual response to a traffic death. /s

Five people have lost their lives on WA roads in separate accidents in 24 hours

WA's road toll is the worst year-to-date figure in a decade.

"I just want to reiterate speed, seatbelts, fatigue, alcohol and drugs and distraction remain to be over-represented in all these crashes."

Jesus Fucking Christ. Make driving a car as difficult as getting a pilot's license, and have mandatory re-tests every few years.

And if you fuck up by driving drunk, too fast, without a seatbelt, on drugs, too tired, or distracted, you don't get to drive again.

We can't keep saying "these were all preventable deaths" while continuing to allow the same rules, infrastructure, licensing, and testing to continue like nothing was wrong.

At first I interpreted that title to mean that WA's toll road rates are determined in part by how many people have died on them within a certain time window, and I thought to myself "Damn, that's a really morbid strategy. But, perhaps also strangely... effective?? Or at least one would think, but apparently not."

I've seen some incredibly boneheaded things from scooter riders, to be fair. Not so much the rental scooters, but illegally modified scooters with motorbike levels of power are just sketchy.
