I wish I had this much room to practice the blade.

[–] hperrin@lemmy.ca 14 points 8 hours ago

Throw in a server rack and it’s perfect.

[–] mirisgaiss@lemmy.world 11 points 9 hours ago

hell, I wish I had something more like that and not a house full of shit I don't use most of the time.

[–] And009@lemmynsfw.com 8 points 11 hours ago

This is my room, less space and bigger bed. More screens too ofc

To be fair, some women would say that too. There's so much room to build stuff and do projects! I could get so fucking irresponsible!

[–] Zacpod@lemmy.world 5 points 13 hours ago

Not nearly enough screens.

[–] HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world 4 points 13 hours ago

I mean I want a nice armoire too. Not for any particular reason besides bragging.

This shit is putting men in a box and " hu duh, men basic, like dog"

[–] Waldelfe@feddit.org 0 points 6 hours ago

And tomorrow they'll post a picture of a 10,000$ gaming setup with LEDs and shit and claim that women can't possibly understand spending a ton of money on furniture and decorations.

Not to mention that this joke has been done to death. For years pictures of empty rooms with a matress have been posted to claim that "this is what men want". (Until next week, when we'll post a picture of a gaming room full of expensive furniture and elaborate decorations and claim that THIS is what men want, actually, for real, I swear.)

[–] Pacattack57@lemmy.world 4 points 20 hours ago (2 children)

What would you add other than a better bed?

[–] BigBananaDealer@lemmy.world 9 points 19 hours ago

mini fridge for beer

[–] blarghly@lemmy.world 2 points 18 hours ago (2 children)

Well, for starters, a bed frame. Lamps for better lighting, an couple night stands, something to divide up the space a bit (assuming this is a studio), book shelves, some plants, some art on the walls, an area rug, table and chairs, and a couple couches and a coffee table, some kind of speaker system, some kind of storage system for any equipment I own for job and hobbies. I also like wooden desks.

Like, the environment you spend time in has an impact on your mental state. Making that environment nice will make you feel better. The way your living space looks also says a lot about you. What this space says is "I literally do nothing but sleep and look at a computer screen". Which is less "hell yeah" and more "this cyberpunk dystopia isnt as neon as I expected."

So if this is what you want, then follow your bliss I guess. But also, if you are having trouble dating.... Look around you.

this cyberpunk dystopia isn't as neon as expected

Well, is it?

See, if you budget properly then you can afford to live on your own and have two beds!

[–] lazycouchpotato@lemmy.world 4 points 16 hours ago

Only missing a giant TV.

[–] Texas_Hangover@lemmy.radio 26 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I'm too old to be getting down on the fucking ground like that. Needs a frame of cinder blocks and plywood.

[–] Blemgo@lemmy.world 13 points 23 hours ago (5 children)

You should do that anyways. Bed frames exost for a reason: it helps to stop moisture building up on the underside of the mattress, and thus prevents mold.

[–] Simulation6@sopuli.xyz 3 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

That plus less bugs end up crawling across your face at night.

[–] ZeffSyde@lemmy.world 1 points 4 hours ago

I'm just thankful for any physical contact at this point.

[–] faythofdragons@slrpnk.net 2 points 8 hours ago

To be fair, air mattresses are like shittier futons and don't get moldy because you're always moving them around.

Source: I used to live with this setup, only in a smaller room.

[–] HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world 2 points 13 hours ago

I just smother the bottom of my mattress with lotrimin and figure I'm good to go for a few years

[–] RaivoKulli@sopuli.xyz 3 points 21 hours ago

Pfft. Just buy a new mattress and put it in a different place

Look at all the space for a mini painting station

[–] Pendorilan@lemmy.world 10 points 21 hours ago (1 children)

Nah man, I need an actual bed lol

[–] rumba@lemmy.zip 9 points 21 hours ago

I don't need a bed, but an air mattress is a HARD no.

I'd rather sleep on a clear carpet with a blanket.

[–] Kolanaki@pawb.social 64 points 1 day ago (3 children)

I could be okay, but I also wouldn't purposely get such a large space when I don't plan to fill it with stuff. Just give me space big enough for the matress and desk.

[–] NeatNit@discuss.tchncs.de 51 points 1 day ago (2 children)

I love that you look at this and say "woah, that's way too much, I prefer less"

[–] RogueBanana@lemmy.zip 12 points 1 day ago (1 children)

If it means lower rent then hell yeah!

Boink! Right into the pillar, again

[–] Szyler@lemmy.world 1 points 4 hours ago

Just cut it down. /s

[–] Rakonat@lemmy.world 11 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Had to take my coffee table out of my living area to get enough room in my apt. Only other option would have been moving my pc to bedroom and tossing out my bedframe

Right? What is their workflow even like?

[–] MissJinx@lemmy.world 16 points 1 day ago

Men? Look at this flooring, look at this lighting project! Amazing place

Low carbon footprint living gets way more hate than it should (and it shouldn't get any).

[–] capuccino@lemmy.world 3 points 19 hours ago

I have that same inflatable mattress.

[–] DmMacniel@feddit.org 23 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Out of frame: a huge ass TV and a single armchair.

[–] arrow74@lemmy.zip 9 points 1 day ago

Why have an armchair? Just roll the gaming chair over

[–] kameecoding@lemmy.world 14 points 1 day ago

It's a bit much for me, as I'd want the mattress more elevated, but let me tell you, I am 99% sure I have adhd, and minimalism like this appeals to me so it's less shit I have take care of, every item in your house is a fucking dust collector that you have to wipe down, fuck that shit, I only want the absolute essentials, rest is slowly going to the bin

[–] DrBob@lemmy.ca 8 points 1 day ago

I lived like this the first year of my postdoc and couldn't have been happier. I had 4 place settings but only used one and washed it after every meal. Desk, computer, one camp chair, and an inflatable mattress. Stayed that way until my wife joined me my second year and made me get a real apartment.

[–] superweeniehutjrs@lemmy.world 17 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Needs a motorcycle being rebuilt in it, with that much open space
