Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). I am not looking forward to seeing elderly people living on the streets after a medical issue causes them to lose their house. I don't think many will last long living outdoors.

Boomers in about six months:

"But why would Obama do this?"

[–] Carvex@lemmy.world 55 points 13 hours ago (4 children)

I was told today that this is “all the dems fault because they haven’t tried to stop him yet”. I can’t imagine how far your head has to be up your own ass to see that viewpoint.

[–] jjjalljs@ttrpg.network 30 points 12 hours ago (2 children)

I think that's the "only Democrats have agency" thing that comes up. When Republicans are horrible shits people are just like yeah they're horrible but like you don't blame the bear for doing bear stuff. But everyone else is held to normal human standards

[–] AA5B@lemmy.world 14 points 12 hours ago

No, you don’t blame the bear. You cage it in a zoo or euthanize it for getting too comfortable around people.

[–] OutlierBlue@lemmy.ca 12 points 12 hours ago

You also don't vote for the fucking bear and put him in a position of power.

[–] three_trains_in_a_trenchcoat@piefed.social 13 points 13 hours ago* (last edited 13 hours ago)

It's not all their fault, but by God it'd be nice to see them fight the republicans at least as hard as they fight the leftists in their own party.

Authoritarians are masters of compartmentalization. They cannot and will not connect any dots that conflict with their predetermined world view. Their brains do not function rationally and they are incapable of drawing rational conclusions.

There is a great free book on this topic with years of research behind it.

I mean, a lot of this stuff only kicks in after the midterms, so you will see democrats take the house and suddenly hospitals all over the country will start closing.

"Some of you will die, but that's a sacrifice I'm willing to make"

[–] OutlierBlue@lemmy.ca 33 points 12 hours ago* (last edited 11 hours ago) (2 children)

Are we at the point where Americans actually defend their democracy and vulnerable citizens yet? No? Just gonna write up a new protest sign while we wait for more people to die?

They are stealing your country and murdering your neighbours. Wake the fuck up. Organize. Protest. Strike. Resist.

[–] burgerpocalyse@lemmy.world 7 points 10 hours ago (1 children)

what do you think organizing protesting and striking is if not writing signs

[–] FuglyDuck@lemmy.world 1 points 9 hours ago

Can’t forget the lovely chants!

(But I get the feeling OC wants something more than protests and strikes. And considering they’re apparently not American, I suggest their rhetoric is not actually in our interests.)

[–] CosmicTurtle0@lemmy.dbzer0.com 6 points 10 hours ago

You're asking on .world, where the instance admins take a "both sides are the same" approach in addition to a "no advocating violence" against the established order.

[–] lukaro@lemmy.zip 33 points 12 hours ago (4 children)

If you're a republican and you're ever in a position of need and I have to ability to help, I'll show you the sum total of compassion your political party has and piss on you instead of helping. Don't be upset I learned it from watching y'all.

[–] Azal@pawb.social 5 points 4 hours ago

100% with you on that one. I'm told that I need to be considerate to them when they start learning the errors of their ways because then they might be allies.

Fuck that. I've lived in red states all my life, they hurt and they "turn over a new leaf" for a second, then the second a Democrat has the gall to help them out of the hole they scream communist then go running to the person worse than the last.

I'm done, I'll help those around me that I can to try to cut down the suffering... but if they voted for this or stayed home, they can rot for all I care.

[–] maniclucky@lemmy.world 6 points 10 hours ago

When you opt out of the social contract, you don't get the benefits anymore. Piss is too generous.

[–] arrow74@lemmy.zip 6 points 11 hours ago

Be more considerate, allow them to at least cup their hands first . Then they at least have something to sip on

[–] hardcoreufo@lemmy.world 4 points 10 hours ago (1 children)

Don't piss on them if they are on fire though.

[–] FuglyDuck@lemmy.world 2 points 9 hours ago

Naw. It’s unlikely to put the flames out, but that odor is awful.

[–] BedSharkPal@lemmy.ca 70 points 13 hours ago (1 children)

AOC nailed it calling this bill a deal with the devil.

[–] jjjalljs@ttrpg.network 37 points 12 hours ago (3 children)

Usually when you make a deal with the devil you get something.

[–] BedSharkPal@lemmy.ca 21 points 12 hours ago (1 children)

I mean the billionaires are getting something!

[–] jonne@infosec.pub 4 points 10 hours ago

But aren't they the devil in this analogy?

[–] FreshParsnip@lemmy.ca 8 points 10 hours ago (1 children)

I'm convinced Trump made a deal with the devil so that he can never be held accountable fir anything

[–] FuglyDuck@lemmy.world 3 points 9 hours ago

The devil would never make that deal since Trump could break it with impunity.

[–] Revan343@lemmy.ca 13 points 12 hours ago* (last edited 12 hours ago)

Right-wingers are getting the hellscape that they voted for. Sucks for everyone else

[–] PillBugTheGreat@lemmy.world 52 points 14 hours ago (2 children)

Death panels are back on the menu

[–] yumpsuit@lemmy.world 2 points 4 hours ago

If ya like learning cool lefty shit and care about the political economy of health, the Death Panel podcast is a nicely chilled refresher in a world thats’s served well done with ketchup.

[–] T00l_shed@lemmy.world 7 points 13 hours ago (1 children)
[–] jonne@infosec.pub 2 points 10 hours ago

They were privatised.

Good luck everyone there. You are going to need it...

[–] WanderWisley@lemmy.world 9 points 12 hours ago

The rich get richer while the poor get fucked over and out.

[–] Gsus4@mander.xyz 4 points 10 hours ago* (last edited 10 hours ago)

30% of those affected probably don't even believe in modern healthcare e.g. their patron saint RFKjr

[–] Puddinghelmet@lemmy.world 8 points 12 hours ago* (last edited 12 hours ago)

Sure, let’s starve our poorest americans to feed unlawful ICE, they get even more money than the marines, for what war or threat exactly???? Hardworking immigrants on plantations in waiting for their legal status?

[–] Rentlar@lemmy.ca 13 points 14 hours ago

From Obama-care to Republi-kill.

[–] ScrambledEggs@lazysoci.al 6 points 12 hours ago

Where else is the 1 trillion dollars tax cut for the rich comes from.
